I love grass Pokémon, want a full grass team, and usually pick them as starters. But I'm struggling to find a reason to justify it in a slot.
5 type weaknesses
7 type ineffectives
Literally worst balance only closely followed by Bug (the joke type). Every other random trainer hits me with a super-effective. Snivy is awesome but if I'm being honest the only thing making it worth while is the HP recovery abilities with Big Root.
TLDR: I love grass types but the balance is broken. Reason to make my obsession justified.
>all grass types learn earth quake, earth power, and rock slide
There grass is fixed for the most part.

Grass is not a attacker. Its supporter type.
They are harder to use of course, but they work great in sun.

It's unfortunate that sun teams also got gutted with the general weather nerfs. Sun was never OP since the pokemon that use it are mostly grass and it buffs fire damage. A double edged sword.

>supporter type
Love this meme.
Leech seed has lackluster distribution
Spore only has 2 viable users.
Synthesis is the worst recovery move in the game barring pain split.
The Powder moves are absolute shit along with shit distribution
Grass types rarely learn non-grass moves so their utility move pool is shit.

Wait for my alola Exeggutor, faggot.

What's wrong with bug? They have 3 weaknesses and their type ineffectiveness's don't matter when you are a multi type mon.

It sucks I agree OP, but I'm actually running a mono-grass team in ORAS and they're not too bad. Maxie gave me some trouble but I beat Flannery first try and all my pokemon were roughly the same level as her's
you just need to find grass types with a good secondary typing

I feel your struggle OP, but you must realize GF is actually compensating by making so many amazingly good grass types, I mean, just look at breloom, whimsicott, ferrothorn, serperior, venusaur, cradily, Chesnaught, etc. Grass type migh be bad as a type, but it sure has some amazingly good pokemon, both in power and design. Hopefully gen VII will follow suit, I hope the archer owl has some great offensive cappacity to abuse the grass/flying type STABS, since they can cover each other's resisted types pretty decently.
