I thought vega was swingy at first but I think that's not really what's going on here. You basically cruise through everything except gym leaders without any resistance, but the content is polished and the maps are neat and actually set up not to be annoying as shit imo.
Once you get to the gym leaders they're basically designed to counter everything and are easily over 10 levels stronger than anything in the area, but as you go further you get options to fuck them up pretty well.

So I'm implementing new Pokemon forms in my fangame.
Villain team (Team Zenith) is a bunch of Dr.Mengeleesque-scientists who experiment with Pokemon so they reach a new form called Zenith Form.
When a Pokemon is in its Zenith Form, it learns a new powerful move (as for Hypno, he learns Z-Hypnosis, which is basically a 100% accuracy Hypnosis), stats and type remains the same.
What do you think?

Not to be rude, but these designs look legitimately autistic. And while in concept deltas aren't a bad idea, just making a certain move overpowered seems rather pointless.
Of course do as you like, but be aware GF's own deltas are coming out next gen and they're hitting all the spots to make people like them. So regardless of where your ideas come from, by the time you have anything out they'll just look like a cheap attempt at replicating alolan forms with your own do not steal OC purple team.

Sprites that are this hard on the eyes when there's fakemons that actually look very good out there (like sage and some vegas) won't do you any favors either.

Not yet there are a few things I need to work out first: getting stone and conditional evolution to work when requirements are met, making it plug and play and a couple other things.

That being said, I might not release it as an individual script, as it could be reliant on other scripts to work. It'll may just come with the eventual engine.

In general if you spend a huge amount of time learning the code to a game for the purpose of hacking it, you'll probably find optimizations, especially if the original devs are shit-tier programmers like Game Freak.

The developer actually experimented, tried to add new mechanics, change up the game formula, etc. I like fakemons too, as long as they are are high quality. Also extra evos for older pokes, more megas, more primals, revamped shinies.

Just finished up Bag Screen to fit the bigger screen. Feedback, maybe? I have no sense of UI and a novice.

Nah, many games use different resolutions, and depending on how yours is, it can be very beneficial.

Looks good, I'd just shuffle some things around.

At the top, I'd place the bag slots.

I'd keep the bag icon where it is in the upper left

The item description can go in the lower left quadrant of the screen, with the item icon near center screen, right above it.
I feel the scroll bar should stay to the side. I don't know if you'll use mouse functions or not, but it's just common place for ease of access.

My two minutes in paint don't really show everything accurately, but it can give you a little bit of an idea.

I don't mind difficulty hacks that don't mess with the dialogue or story much if at all, but a lot of people look to fan romhacks like this to get something fresh. I don't think fakemons or new evos are necessary, just spice up what's available when. As for the story the bottom line is to keep it simple. Too many people try to make things an epic with a bloated character cast filled with all their friends OC donut steals and it ends up coming off as juvenile and/or edgy. Also don't do this.

I think the trick to this is capturing the feel of the original games while doing your own thing. So you don't have to do eight Gyms (clearly, as we all learned this week!) but as long as it has the right sense of adventure, humour and, most vital of all, creativity, it's all good.

There's a phrase that has really stuck with me lately, one of the anime segments says that the World of Pokémon is "as near as your imagination". Basically, if you can conceive it and it doesn't feel like a weird mishmash with the franchise then it's all good.

And you don't have to force a large biome variety if it just doesn't suit the region at all, you can still fit a varied roster in a limited number of biome, fire pokémons don't have to live near volcanoes for example.

I think the problem with yours is more than they look like weird variations of the normal monsters that don't seem to have a goal they're looking to achieve, if that makes sense to you.
Like the shroomish of the azurill I mentioned, what is really the point in the changes in coloration?
I can sort of see a ladybug-ish attempt in bulbasaur but the rest look like random changes to me.

If you want variations and don't want to start making up your own monsters from scratch, you probably need to be a lot bolder with the sort of changes you're going for.
Or at least pay more attention to detail so ice charmander doesn't look like an actual charmander frozen solid.

A couple forests and this one abandoned house, have chase mechanics as well, which would make it much harder to traverse.

The reason they don't talk about progress is because there is almost never any progress, but they don't want to say it. Most people work on their project at some point where they have a lot of free time, then just stop for months because very little people have the patience to keep doing the same thing for so long and for free. Then eventualy pick it up again, post a few updates, makes it look alive, drop it and reapeat.

Of course, but the models's coloration is definitely wrong. Also, i'm mainly using bw/hgss sprites as a reference, in order to make them more like the game's sprite. For example Venusaur in the anime has always been way more blueish than in the games; and the sprite coloration between third and fouth gen changed a lot too. So you mean the piracy patch. Are you new to emulation? Games sometimes run all kinds of checks to make sure you're running a real DS and if you don't pass they make the game harder, knowing you pirated it.

Since Gen 5, the Pokemon games disable all EXP when they notice you pirating. There are many pre-patched ROMs (do NOT use for romhacks, they are NOT clean) and anti-anti-piracy patches (what you are looking for) available.

Just look for the piracy patch.

It's a fairly sleek design, but it also looks very, very dull. The boxes' colors for the battle options and moves are really desaturated and don't really work at all with the dark grey boxes [likewise, more vibrant-colored boxes would have complimented the dark grey boxes well).

Additionally, the placement of your text in the boxes with the HP bars is a bit strange. Having the Pokemon name/gender going to the left of the boxes like that with little padding on the bottom edge makes the layout look fairly jumbled. It's also pretty confusing to have the EXP bar above the HP Bar, given that the main games usually have it below. Also when you use dark boxes like that, having a text shadow is usually the way to go, like they did with Platinum [pic related].

Every tutorial I see is for "adding" or "inserting" new tiles, but what if I don't want to do that, I just want to replace the existing tiles with altered versions?

I can do that with the pokemon sprites very easily, but is that possible for the maps? For example, can I export the existing tileset, mspaint all the trees pink, then import it back in just as simple as that?

Yes, you can. RMXP just take whatever is inside the 32x32 squares you used when mapping. And you can of course create your own tileset from scratch as long as you follow a template, which is a width of 8 tiles and a length that is a multiple of 32. RMXP cut the tileset in 32x32 tiles on its own.

If you just want to recolor, you just edit the palette(s).
If you open the Block editor (in a-map), you will see a bunch of weird tiles to the right, and all the normal ones to the left.
The left one (the blocks as they're called) are built by 4 8x8 tiles, from the right. If you right click on one of the 8x8 tiles in a block, you'll select that 8x8 tile, with it's respective palette.
You can edit the palette in one of the tabs in the block editor, it's simple really, but might be confusing to a first comer.
Keep in mind that palettes 0-6 are the palettes used in the primary tileset, and that all tilesets have their own set of palettes. If you go to the Header tab, you get to pick 2 different tilesets.
Now, there are only 2 primary tilesets:
0, the outdoors nature tileset, and 12, the indoor tileset.
I was gonna write more about tilesets and what not to do, but I forgot you were asking about colors.

TLDR: Click block editor -> click Palette editor (or whatever it's called) -> edit palette 0-6 for the primary tileset, 7-12 for the secondary.

Well, I kinda liked the story by the time we have to invade a building (not gonna say which one due to spoilers). You, a girl and a rival start working together there, instead of you alone like most other games and, from that point forward to a bunch of parts in the game, the badges and the HMs they let you use become a plot point. I also like how the Gym Leaders are actually useful unlike, well, being just leaders. They are related to investigations and many of the times the enemy team is attacking a leader will help in a way or another, be it story or gameplay.
