Aside from the legendaries this is a very solid gen with only one truly awful design.

The new birds that were revealed are what variations and what alola as a whole could have been. Interesting designs, each with a unique flavor that directly references the islands, with a strong base on the animal (or concept) they are based on.

I really hate the variation that have been shown otherwise. I like Exeggutor in concept only and Ninetales simply because the original design is strong enough to hold through. Snow Vulpix and Snow Sandshrew make no fucking sense. And it's not because I don't believe there to be snow on Hawaii, it's just if you were to change the form of a pokemon to fit a new environment; one that is majority tropical then why change it to ice? Why change it so that it LOSES THE CONCEPT of the pokemon? Ice Ninetales has absolutely no relationship to the Kitsune mythology. At least Exeggutor made an attempt to fit in with the theme, even with his weird typing.

Box legendaries completely suck. Starters are ok. Jumping onto the Mimikyu wagon.

If it's supposed to be a dragon fruit tree, it has completely failed to look anywhere remotely like one. It's a dragon because it has a tail. That's it. It's a dragon in the same way that Tropius can fly.

What do you guys think so far? I am honestly so happy with everything from the game that's been released. I think this is the most hyped I've ever been for a game. I can't wait til November
