The SM protag does the exact same arm motions to trigger "Synchro" in SM. Ash-Greninja's Mega Water Shuriken is a super move.

I can't explain it, but my answer is now "yes, I'm excited." I hope they unveil this tomorrow.

Yeah, its the kind of the that makes me roll my eyes when I hear about it the first time, but its grown on me both in the anime and as a potential game mechanic.

One decent theory I read somewhere was that we'll get synchro evolutions or the like instead of mega evolutions for some pokemon, contingent on the pokemon knowing a specific move to activate, like Greninja and Water Shuriken.

I was hesitant, but still somewhat open minded when I first saw it. The battles with it in XYZ sold me in the end. My last remaining issue is its current special snowflake status, which will pretty much resolve itself if it gets into the games.

I think some Pokemon will indeed change appearance slightly when Synchro is activated. My bet, so far, is on the final evos for Rowlet, Litten, Popplio, and Rockruff. And Greninja.

Currently only Greninja can. In SM more pokemon should be able to Synchro too

Not a lot known about it so far, Ash is the first one to do it that we know of.

Long story short, its a power up comparable to mega evolution, the downsides include the trainer feeling the pain of hits and getting exhausted, though Ash is mastering that side of things.

I'd be perfectly happy with that. While they're hyping up syncho Greninja, its worth remembering anime rules do not apply to the games.

YES

That was one of the worst things about XY, they introduced a new mechanic and then had almost no one but the player use it, both making an easy game even easier and wasting opportunities to show off new designs and gimmicks.

I think the form changes are not required to use the super moves... it's just that some Pokemon will get both.

I wonder if it's going to be unique per pokemon, or if they're doing the Contest max appeal sort of thing where they do a move that matches the type of stone used.

On the design side, since it mimics the trainer on the anime, and since you can change your clothes in SM, would you guys like if the synchro matched the colors of your current clothes?
