I can't see myself putting anything other than Kanto, Johto, or Johto Upgraded in my pocket.

I miss kanto original when the pokedex could talk.

Original Kanto is a classic but it does look a tad dated. Original Johto is a good refinement of that. Sinnoh's is pretty cool. And I quite like the updated Hoenn version because it's a GBA!

And while the rotom is memetastic and has personality it looks like a chalk board

Sinnoh and Kanto 2.0. They're the only ones that actually looks like they functions the way they do: a Pokemon encyclopedia. The rest have way too many buttons or are basically smartphones.

I didn't put too much thought on it but I think:
Kanto > Sinnoh > Unova > Kanto V2 > Johto > Johto V2 > Alola (sans Rotom) > Kalos > Hoenn
