It appears to be a barn owl. I'm sure it is also based on something else. I don't know where the Grass typing comes into play, but that might be more evident when it evolves.

Barn owls are notably common in the British isles, as they sometimes hunt during the day there. I think Rowlet looks a little British on purpose because of this. Its English name COULD partly be a reference to J.K. Rowling that someone on the English translation team snuck in there, but that might entirely be a coincidence.

I think Rowlet is based on a barn owl and on a halved apple

It's a starter that has leaves on its body. What more needs to be said?

What would it be ? Barn owls have a head shaped like that already.
>>
>>27428640
Well i'm not sure.I think Rowlet's beak is much more centred than the barn owl to resemble the apple and that might represent that grass type,I don't know though

Barn owls are also one of only two species of owl in Hawaii. And the only non-native/introduced/invasive species.

Funnily enough, Rowlet sort of resembles the native owl too. It's still obviously a barn owl though
