Seriously what's all this talk about resets.

The only times Ash has properly reset beyond any doubt was in BW and XY. And the XY reset was actually a good thing as it made him more the trainer he should've been post DP.

Of course the transitions between OS, AG and DP resulted with stupid looses and asspulls to make Pikachu weaker but Ash at no point did he loose the growth he made in previous seasons.

I think it was also because in the R/S games we couldn't transfer over our pokemon from RBYGSC. So the anime sort of mirrored that with only having Pikachu around as the series mascot.

In the games we had to start fresh and couldn't trade over our old pokemon, so Ash mostly did the same.

It's been a while since I've seen the older series so I have a question.

In the more recent series, do they ever reference events from the earlier ones? Stuff like Ash being declared dead at sea from the SS Anne or stuff like that

AG and DP had a lot of direct references to the OS though.

XY's had references to DP with Ash talking about Piplup and Meowth talking about not liking a Pokemon after it evolves when Pumpkaboo evolved. The Meowth reference was from back in DP when he tried getting with a Glameow who evolved into Purugly.

It also made reference to BW with the use of honey from Decolore, and then there's Ash referencing his past Pokemon at Oak's.

It works differently for different shows: while Super's fights look awful when compared with Z's fights, Ash-Greninja vs M-Sceptile looked visually better than Charizard vs Articuno, for me.

The thing is most of the original Pokemon fansites were started by teens who were already 12-13 or so when Red/Blue hit in America. That makes sense, as you would already have to be that age to start a fansite.

Serebii, Archaic, etc. were all around 13 when Red/Blue hit in 1998. Then as the years went by they're now 30 year olds. Adamant is 30 as well.

Back in the old days on Serebii during the early 2000's most people were in their mid/late teens when AG was airing already. We've all become old men.
