So I bought Gale of Darkness a few years ago (didn't grow up with a GameCube), and I really enjoyed it, played through it twice. While I was sending some Pokemon up to my Bank last week I thought "Why not be a greedy bastard and get another Psycho Boost Lugia?" So I beat the game a third time, and I don't know if it's because of repetition or if it's just aged poorly, but it wasn't as fun as I remember.
The battles dragged on sometimes, and the animations seemed slow occasionally (which I've heard a lot of people complain about, but it never bothered me until now). I've been wanting Colosseum for a while now, and I wanted to know how it compares to Gale. The lack of a Purify Chamber is kind of a turn off, but the story seems pretty good from what I've heard. Plus I want to know if there's any Pokemon with unique movesets worth sending up like in Gale, the list of Shadow Pokemon didn't seem to have anything special.
I play it once every year, totally worth.
It's worth even more now that IV manipulation exists and my autism can transfer competitive former Shadow Pokemon across generations in a manner of minutes

It's worth it just for the campaign alone. Used to be way more worth it back in the early 2000's, since it meant that your Ruby/Sapphire cartridge could have Pokemon that nobody else at school had. And if you pre-ordered it? Hellz yeah.

While I can play GoD once a year, every year, I've only managed to force myself through Colosseum a total of 3 times since I got it relatively close to release. purifying is a pain and the pokemon selection is horrible unless you don't mind your team being Espeon, Johto Starter, three legendary beasts, and Flygon.
That said, if you've never played it, it may be worth getting cheap to play through it at least once.

Getting the right nature in those games sounds like a pain.

Honestly, if the nature is even slightly optimal (i.e. Calm Articuno or Naive Growlithe), I'm just gonna take it and call it part of my new troupe of tryhards.
Colosseum has a better story, locations and the main character is a cheeky cunt, plus you get a qt that follows you around. I think maybe the Ho-oh you can get has something unique but I don't remember. Overall I think Gale of Darkness is a better game in terms of gameplay but Colosseum beats it in every other regard.
