I always assumed it took place before most of the main games. A lot of the technology seems a great deal less advanced than in most of the games. Plus, Ho-oh was flying around on it's own throughout Colosseum, so it may be before Ethan/Lyra encounter it in Johto.

Orre region was so comfy, especially in GD. Agate was a fun place to just relax in, Im really hoping they bring back the Orre region for another title with 3DS connectivity. They were talking about how wild pokemon were starting to appear in GD, it would be cool if they show how the region has changed over the years and have even more.
