How much sense does this make if all the starters have a circus theme?
Rowlet is a Headmaster/Magician
Litten is a tiger who jumps through hoops
Popplio is an acrobatic performer
The starters have had previous themes such as last gen with the RPG theme
Could be a combination of all three if the final Evo leaks are real.
Trick Archer, wrestler, and entertainer for circus
Brains Brawn Beauty
Archer, Barbarian, Bard

The theme is animals
Why are people going so hard on this theme nonsense?
The only group of starters that had a defined theme were gen VI
>>27383709
>gen 5
Different cultures and nationalities
>gen 4
Mythical creatures
>Gen 1
Reptiles
>>27383644
I can kind of see it but it's also kind of silly. Like what kind of a theme would that be?
>>27383749
Bulbasaur is an amphibian.
Sun Wukong/Napoleon are people.
It's pretty obvious you're stretching on 5.
>>27383709
There have been starter themes since gen 4, though 6 did have the most well defined ones.
4 were mythological figures (World Turtle, Monkey King, Poseidon)
5 were cultures (European, Chinese, Japanese)
6 were RPG classes (Warrior, Mage, Rogue)
People are forcing this theme meme too hard. Not every starter trio needs a theme. Only gen 6 had an overly obvious one and even then it's barely possible to tell just by looking at the first stages.
I've always seen Rowlet as the knife juggler or ringleader.
Litten as the fire breather.
Popplio as the clown.

>5
Warrios from West, Japan, China (Knight, Samurai, Kung Fu fighter)
>4
alright let me say it so "mythical figures and creatures" -> World Turtle, Sun Wukong, Poseidon.
>gen 1
read his page on bulbapedia. All are reptiles

>gen 5
>Different cultures and nationalities
Wasn't it Japanese culture? Like Samurott is a samurai, Serperior is dressed like a Japanese noble and Emboar is ... something? I'm not well versed in gook culture.
>>27383847
Serperior was European, French to be exact. It had that fleur de luis or whatever.
Emboar was Chinese since it was modeled after a charcter from A Journey To The West.
Samurott of course being Japanese with the samurai theme.

>Ohmura: There was also talk this time about dividing the three starters into Japanese, Western, and Chinese styles of design. Tsutarja was based on Western design, and Pokabu was rooted in a Chinese style, so I was told, “Let’s make Mijumaru into a more Japanese-style design.” Someone even asked, “Can’t you make Mijumaru into a samurai?” [laughs]

It makes the most sense for the circus theme to fit
Rowlet - Ring Master/troupe leader
-Sports a bow tie much like like a magician or in this case a Ring master, as well as being very attentive to its trainers directions, which could be a reference to how a ring master would be the one giving directions to the other animals.
Litten- Tiger jumping through flaming rings
-Litten is said to logical and holding it's emotions in. Possible reference to how the Lions are forced to do stunts and not show their true emotions on stage. Littens markings also resemble those of tigers.
Popplio- Circus seal
-Self explanatory, it resembles a seal who is very playful and good at using balls, in this case Popplios water balloons. It also says how it practices a lot, which is something a seal does to further it's skill. It's neck frill also resembles a costume a seal or clown might wear.
>Gen 6 RPG classes
Knight, Magician, Thief
>Gen 5 royalty
European, Chinese, Japanese
>Gen 4 Mythology
World Turtle, Sun Wukong, Poseidon
>Gen 3 fighters
Assassin, Kick Boxer, Brawler
>>27384172
well I would add Gen 2 Prehistoric into it
>Caveman, Volcano, Dinosaur
