I attached a joystick to my gameboy for 360° movement and went BONKERS lol
Still don't know how I managed to get through that
>>
This one wasn't bad at all. If this one seriously gave you trouble, literally kill yourself.
>>
>>27347601
Not at all. I loved spending time in Ice Path in Crystal. You could get all sorts of rare mons like Swinub, Jynx, Delibird, and Sneasel. It wasn't like the rest of Johto which just had Pidgey crammed down your throat every step.
>>
>>27347622
that shouldn't be possible
>>
>>27347633
now thats edgy
>>
I'm pretty sure the other one in Articuno Cave was harder than this.
>>
>>27347601
I love the Ice Path. Didnt really take that long, but I sure took my time longer there in GSC more than in HGSS.
>>
>>27347601
I think I was stuck for two days.

It got to the point where I fell in love with the theme. Legitimately the only time I had trouble with a puzzle until Wallace's gym in ORAS.
>>
>>27347601
It wasn't that hard if you printed out a picture of the room beforehand. I also don't remember finding Whitney much harder than other gym leaders.
Maybe I actually spent all day retrying infamous "hard parts" of games as a kid, and it just didn't seem that long because I was having so much fun, I don't know.
>>
>>27347700
in b4 the b&
>>
>>27347601
That one fucked me hard. The Crystal one didn't give me as much trouble.
>>
Asked a friend to complete it for me.
>>
>>27347700
aw shit, I forgot about the theme, it's good af.

>>27347601
I asked my mom for help. She said she didn't have time since we were going somewhere so I had the car ride to figure it out.
>>
I love me some ice slide puzzles and hope SM has really cool ones despite the lack of grid
>>
I honestly thought it was bigger than that wtf?
And yeah I always got my stepbrother to do it for me, in exchange for a kiss on his weiner of course.
>>
>>27347734
b& for what? I was 9, ice path was difficult for me. Supposedly it was simplified in Crystal but Crystal was my first gen 2 game and it sure didn't feel easier.
>>
>>27347601
I thought the path was straightforward as a kid, how could you fuck up more than four times?

Same brother. When you tried later in those years and actually made it were you hyped as I was?
>>
>>27347818
Off yourself, dumb loliposter
>>
>>27347818
They fixed EXP scaling from XY, as shown in the gameplay demonstration. Also, the typing indications is nothing new and RPGs have been doing it for years.

And ORAS kept the Regi puzzles, even adding new in a new weird one to find Regigigas.

1000¥ you're a faggot.
>>
>>27347854
I still remember, go to 5th floor to get the key, then 3rd floor to get to the warp to gary
>>
It's not that bad, really. It's designed so that if you go the wrong way, you can fix it by going the opposite direction, or you get sent back to an earlier part of the puzzle.

Even ten minutes of random flailing on the controls will get you through.

Come to think, did TPP ever go through Gold/Silver? If so, wouldn't be surprised if they made it through this part.
>>
>>27347601
I was literally 7 and I don't remember having any trouble with this, just try different things instead of doing the same again and again.
>>
>>27347776
I think this was the theme of my bedroom (night) for a decent amount of time.

hiding under the covers, trying my hardest to get to clair, catching a swinub and doing permanent damage to my eyes because gameboy color had no backlight holy shit all while making sure to be as quiet as poss so parents don't catch me

go ahead call me a johtoddler I don't even care
>>

>>

>>
>>27347601
i was stuck like 2 hours, i don't know exactly what part, but i remember there was a part where i always fucked up
>>
>>27347839
What does this even mean?

>>27347854
I feel like there's a really easy pattern to do but just fucking around is fun enough. Tons of EXP + Items is no big deal.

>>27347843
You should probably be ashamed.
>>
Literally stopped playing at that point. Started a new play through and stopped at that point again. Third time was the charm.
>>
>>27347818
none of the skill of actual pokemon was figuring out whats super effective. it's just memorizing a fucking chart. you probably dont play pokemon past the storyline, so im not quite sure why youre trying to make complaints about streaminling things like EV training?
>>
>>27348085
Was all this before or after you tried to evolve your Luvdisc?
>>
>>27347601
>be gen 2
>be dark icy cave
>don't put new gen 2 dark/ice pokemon in cave
Thankfully they fixed that in Crystal but what the fuck were gamefreak thinking?
>>
>>27347601
what game is this?
>>
>>27348292
Fire red/ leaf green
>>
These were my favorite puzzles. I'm good at remembering maps easily.
>>
>>27347601
It didn't give me that much trouble. The boulder puzzle was a bitch though, both moving them to the right place and actually using them in the room below.
>>
>>27348159
>it's just memorizing a fucking chart

And figuring out what type the opponent is, which is usually easy but sometimes has curveballs like Lucario's Steel-type.

Nobody said it was skillful, but it's part of an RPG to figure out stuff like weaknesses naturally. Telling you exactly what move to use after only one battle against an opponent nullifies that.
>>
>>27348194
The placement of new Pokemon was probably the only thing I hated about G/S
There's just way too many that you can't catch until Kanto or even Mt. Silver.

Pic related fucked me up in several ways, for some reason I missed that I had to visit Goldenrod to fight Rockets. I only realized it after a week when I got a guidebook.

Then when I finally did that, I also missed that Clair goes into Dragon's Den, and I went for days before realizing I could surf behind the gym.

A lot. I never could solve this puzzle when I was 10. Asked friends about it in school. One told me to get the ice skates key item, the other one told me there's a HM move to melt the ice paths, one more told me to get a Charmeleon an NPC hands out.

The Ice Tunnel is just trial and error really.

I was stuck in the Rock Tunnel for far longer because I'd wandered in without Flash or Escape Ropes and couldn't find the exit. I remember it being such a relief when I came out at the other end.

>>27352081
You're stupid!
You wouldn't even be able to go ON that bike ramp withOUT going underneath it first.
Why are you such a liar?
>>
>>27347601
Took me 5-10 minutes at worst iirc. Since I needed to go right I looked at the rocks to the left of the path, of which there were two. Then I just worked backwards a bit. After that, getting to the part I worked backwards to only took a couple of tries.

Was this in silver/gold and was there some reason that I would pass through it a lot? My fingers seem to follow muscle memory to complete the path after I did the first three steps.
>>
>>27352726
>>27352483
I always increased the contrast to max to cheat my way through the 'flash required' tunnel in rgb. I was disappointed that I couldn't use this tactic and 'needed' flash to get through the one in gold/silver.

Ice Path didn't give me that much trouble.

Getting TM79 in Frost Cavern however took me the longest fucking time. Diagonals seem really counter-intuitive for this kind of puzzle
>>
>>27352769
this was before you get the bike. i couldn't find a screenshot of the exact part i was talking about, but going under that part of the bikeway was a problem for me.

i actually psyched my friend out by telling him how that part threw me off massively. he thought it seemed incredibly obvious and assumed that was the tricky part i was talking about any didn't even try to go under.

I never had an issue with this as a kid due to the fact that I played a lot of Zelda, especially Minish Cap, and all the sliding puzzles in the ice related dungeons gave me enogh experience to get through sliding puzzles in other games. And the fact that im not an autistic mouthbreather
>>
>>27353000
But they're using the word properly.
>>
>>27352081
are you me? took me several days to discover that, and it was only because i was so pissed i started smashing the dpad randomly until i got to the other side
>>
>>27348404
The game doesn't tell you which moves to use until you fight that Pokémon for the second time. So you still have to figure out typings on your own.
>>
>>27351872
In Crystal they made it so you couldn't go down Ice Path until you beat Rocket Tower to prevent that happening.

This fucked me when I was a child too. It didn't take me days though. An hour or two.

Silph Co was bad. The ice puzzles were bad. Victory road was bad. I'm not sure if they're easy now because I'm older if it's because I've done them so many times.
