When you favor a Pokemon, do you favor a specific stage in an evolutionary line or do you think of every Pokemon in the line as the same 'favorite'?
First option.
Fuck Fennekin and Delphox, but Braixen is OK.
Depends on the pokemon!
For example, Cyndaquil is the best basic Johto starter but its evolutions are hot trash.
Favor a specific, like Haunter, who is way better than Gengar
I think of it as lines.
I barely register middle evolution as their own Pokemon. Just some waiting period until they are strong.
favor a specific
in my case, I don't dislike Porygon or Porygon Z, but Porygon2 is GOAT

One stage mostly. Serperior is GOAT and Servine is pretty cool, but Snivy is one of the worst starters I've ever seen.
Some lines are awesome as a whole though, Volcarona and Larvesta for example.
It really depends on the Pokémon, but most Pokémon that I would consider my favourites don't have evolutions/pre-evolutions that I dislike.
So usually I consider the entire line a favourite.
Specific stage. Buizel > Floatzel but the latter is cool too.
i like pancham but pangoro is just a big nono

I consider every pokemon in the line as a favorite, since I consider a oddish to be an immature vileplume, just as you'd consider a caterpillar to be an immature butterfly.

I like Luvdisc but I hate Alomomola.

I usually prefer a specific stage, but if there's one stage I don't really like, its association with the rest of the line ends up making me like it more than I otherwise would.

Usually the entire line, but with some exceptions, i.e:
Eeveelutions obviously
Dragonair > Dragonite
Onix > Steelix
Froslass >>>>> Snorunt and Glalie
And then there's Misdreavus and Mismagius, I like both of them but differently.

Its an odd case for me, since my 3 favourite pokemon consist of a non-evolving one, and two two-stagers, both of which I love more than their prevos, but only because I loved their prevos so much. Its weird, since I almost never feel a disconect between pokemon in a line, unless its very noticeable like with hydreigon or dragonite, my opinion of a pokemon goes for the whole line.

Kind of both. Most lines I think of as one thing - like Deino, Zweilous and Hydreigon, or the Machop line. But with others, like Wooper, I can parse them apart to find ones I like more than the others.
