OFFICIAL OP FOR /pgs/ (other thread is dead / near bump limit)

DA RULES:
#1: Wait for scanners: we are not faster than light. Code will take some time to get Pokemons, then we have to screenshot the map and post it on 4chan. Please be patient. If you bump your request, scannerfriends reserve the right to ignore it.

#2: Post coordinates in this way:
xx.xxxxxx, yy.yyyyyy

Coordinates like "15W, 199N" do not help us.

#3: If there are more than two scanners, those scanners should begin posting with a name, in order to split the work.

#4: Consequentially, if there are more than two scanners, users shall post BOTH coordinates and the requested scanner.

Here is a Pastebin for dummies for scanning:
http://pastebin.com/SkL1LcbR (embed)
(Python runs natively on OS X and Linux, do not attempt to install it through Wine. Go here: https://www.python.org/downloads/ and download 2.7.12 for your OS.)

Once you get through that first Pastebin and get everything up and running, you might notice that if you leave the script running for about 30 minutes, new Pokemon will stop appearing on the map. Here is a workaround for this issue using PowerShell: http://pastebin.com/WE2c6518 (embed)
That Pastebin also has instructions to run ngrok, which will allow you to view the scanner map on your phone while you're out catching Pokemon.

Guys, do you have the old .rar that worked with example.py?

If so, may you upload it on a.pomf or whatever and paste the link here?

The old Pastebin I did does not work anymore, so I have to retrieve all old datas, but my folder are completed, not "raw"

Thanks

There are no breaks on the go train! And it is close. You should be able to walk. Though you already wasted a lot of time if you were just sitting.

A Bulbasaur spawned above them.

Are there any good locations for these cunts?

Here is the oldest example.py version I have. But it stopped working properly when the new one came out https://a.pomf.cat/vnizmj.zip

You really should just drop it. The new one is better. It is important to just use -t 1 in the moment. It might have even been fixed in the last day.

Turns off CPU multi-threading, which makes it work properly or it doesn't show everything right now.

Also couldn't you just edit the pastebin in the OP instead of making a new one?
>>
>>27343722
The one in OP is the old one.
I made a thread in which there were both the new one, the guide for the Hexagonal scan, and the old one, the classic square one, but it faded away.

Next OP will contain both: the old one works as the first day, since all my scans are/were done with it.
(Also, now I am practicing at using the old one, but -k is very too long. There should be a way to shorten it)

I'm curious as to how the hell this app even decides what shows up - that ponytail is apparently the third closest pokemon, going by the "nearby " section

>>
>>27344400
pokemon go is supposed to do what we do, it tracks the location of pokes and displays how close they are to your current location

niantic disabled this to reduce stress on servers, but now people only get a general list of pokemon within 3 steps of their location, which don't change because of no API access.

This program bypasses all that and just asks for the API information directly, which is happily provided and more direct than the game itself.

It violates the ToS but what did they expect to happen, honestly

The devs are always submitting new commits sometimes multiple times within an hour.
Easiest way is to install git and type
git clone -b develop https://github.com/AHAAAAAAA/PokemonGo-Map.git

then to update and preserve your credentials and everything, go to the folder which you just cloned and type

git pull

There's already new features this morning but they don't always change the commands around.

You can view all the changes on here: https://github.com/AHAAAAAAA/PokemonGo-Map/commits/develop and see when they were made.
So today there was almost a whole page's worth of changes.
>>
>>27353296
Wow

(If someone did something to shorten/bypass -k, it would be very nice)
>>
>>27353323
You don't need -k
in credentials.json just put your google maps key in there and it will remember it for you
Also I think that config.ini is already ready to go with your username and password and stuff. I haven't tested it out yet though.

-k is just there in case people want to copy and paste previous commands to make it easier on people.
>>
However if you use
git pull
then the server will LITERALLY remember the credentials.json and where you put it from previous builds. So no downloading, unzipping and manually merging unless they change something big.
>>

>>
>>27353243

>>
>>27353337
[I am trying to do it, but maybe the trick of excluding -k works on the most updated version.
On mine, it does not work: Gmaps wants the key, as localhost says]

Slow.
Buggy.
Doesn't work half the time.
Deliberately shitty scan radius to save server power .
Uses an outdated version of the software.

You can fix all your problems by installing a copy on your own computer.
>>

What's the error message? The most common problem is this: https://github.com/AHAAAAAAA/PokemonGo-Map/wiki/Google-Maps-API:-a-brief-guide-to-your-own-key
>>
>>27353906
No error message. PoGoMap works just fine. I can open it in firefox and Chromium without problem. On Pale Moon the map and everything on it is just gone. Does not appear. The UI is there though.

Also on Google Chrome I get some weird blur on both the map and the pokemon that does not appear if I load the normal google maps.
>>
>>27353920
That's weird as shit. In your github issue report you'd want to include your OS, what commands you ran, a screenshot of the problem, a screenshot of the developer console if you have one and what branch your using eg develop and your environment (eg what version of python).

So if you have:
- A Mac: you can run the script, and make it externally visible
- A linux PC/laptop: you can run the script and make it externally visible
- A Windows PC: you can run the script and make it externally visible
All three would let you have a 'personalised website' for inputting stuff.
Now, then you could choose between viewing it as a website and running it as an app, example as https://github.com/istornz/iPokeGo

The developer plans to have it standalone like the android port:
>TODO: Make the app totaly independent
>TODO: Change scan position based on user location
Probably not going to happen soon though.

Another option is to have something like pushbullet or another notifier running and get computer notifications on your phone when they appear https://github.com/jxmorris12/PokemonGo-Finder

If you also have a webserver running around (they are cheap, I got one from ramnode for 48 USD a year but it's only using about 20% of the resources and I'm running like a whole bunch of other stuff on it too, they used to have a 13.5 USD per year plan too) you could also run a mini website off that.

Pokevision has its uses, but it does have about a 6 second time delay the last time I checked as well as crapping out and not picking up on pokemon in the area correctly.

PDF anon, I swear: that programme may be awesome, but the Wiki is fucking confusing.

I am stuck at two passages that were very easy once upon a time, now being hard as hell.

Why do brilliant developers explain things so approximately?
>>
>>27354131
Brilliant minds can't comprehend how poor lowly plebs struggle with concepts.
Also they're probably trained with computer science so it's baby stuff to them. I only started picking stuff up this year because one github user on a spotify script patiently walked me through his script.
His script was a lot like this one. Like he even had -h and stuff.

The next time you see a script like this one, you'll know exactly how to use it while everyone else is confused so it's a learning in progress probably.

People often talk about how to actually use the program on the discord in more detail than ever actually ends up on the wiki. In fact the wiki was locked until recently.

It runs exactly the same thing as your computer does I think except some updates might be delayed.
Except maybe they slimmed it down a bit and removed some of the options.
Viewing it from home is probably better unless it has an option to modify it on the fly.

I don't know, I'm on iOS but I'm very jelly of Android

The one in the OP isn't linked in the official pogomap page so give them all a try.

Yeah, I think so.

"develop" is kind a mess: when I see Pokestops, I do not see Pokemon; when I see Pokemon, I do not see Pokestops AND gyms.

Should I report it to the project?
Also, the develop, apparently, does not say at which step we are during the scan, on my computer
>>
>>27354200
Thanks!
>>
>>27354224
The one in the OP works great and you can even change the radius of the scan, it can follow your GPS and stuff like that. It gets the same results as PoGoMap.
>>
Also, it seems that the map is a little unstable:
now it doesn't let see Pokemon, then Pokemon if Gym is not toggled, then it displays everything I want...
>>
>>27354228
-dp and -dg and -ol
Have ALL been removed. When you want to toggle something, do it all from the sidremenu on localhost:5000
It works fine for me. I can toggle gyms, lured pokemon, pokemon and stops all independently by hitting the switches on the menu.
>>
Second try:

Sometimes, if I have "Pokemon" and "Pokestop" on the map, it is ok.
When I toggle "Gyms", it DISPLAYS MORE POKEMON, but it doesn't show Gyms.
When I refresh the page, the added Pokemon appear, but both Pokestop and Gyms disappear.

Edge probably has poor caching. When a web browser caches it saves previously loaded data and redisplays it to you. So it looks like it has those features and then Edge realises its mistake and deletes them.

Read what CPU threading is, you mongoloid. Of course it is going to be faster, not that your CPU has 10 threads. But it is still not stable and less accurate.

Maybe for poorfags like you who can't afford a decent PC. And there's no such thing as "accuracy" you dumbfuck, you can see the hex develop in real time. When the cells collide with an area the pokemon is revealed. This works on all settings.

You have no argument and anyone can check this for themselves. Put on the retarded settings you are suggest and measure how long it takes to complete scan. Then use default settings (don't put in -t at all) and measure it. Default is faster period.

You shot yourself in the foot by stating earlier that the missing pokemon issue has been fixed in recent builds. It has, I get plentiful pokemon.

Faster scans are still preferable because you are less likely to reveal a pokemon which has a low time limit. If you use -t 1 on high step settings you have to wait longer for rescan of an area. And if a rare pokemon has shown up before the scan hits that area it will start counting down before you realize it is there.

You can also comment out pokestops and gyms to make the data more accurate as is suggested in the link you provided. Everyone should do this anyway because who really gives a fuck about that shit.

>Go ahead and use it whatever you want. Don't cry when it fails to show you some nice catch. Not that you would know.

And don't cry when you see the nice catch and it has 3 minutes left because your scan took forever to map it.

Ive seen a dratni up there 5 or 6 time now and am going to start recording it from now on cause unless i scan it with more than 10 mins before its gone when i get there usually.

Hey QUESTION
Im close to being done.
but one issue
https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-trainer-club/login
it's down. Do i really need to make an account for it to work?
>>
>>27357798

>>
>>27357700

I think someone has started gathering the data on this and will start crunching for locations correlated with time and type.

I've noticed less common spawns in a particular location, which happens to be where I found my first Tauro. Also about a 15:1 ratio of PRZ (just made that up, "preeze" for pidgey, rattata and zubats i.e. annoyingly common) to less common. This keeps you coming back and hopeful that you have exceeded your area.

I haven't seen anything new in days and have 56 at level 18.

Also I've never seen a Ghastly at night. Could just be my area.
>>

its not an option though, the site is down, i just want to know if it works without it

No you need an account. However, you can use Gmail. Sign in code is a few posts above yours.
>>
>>27357932
>STEP 15) Write this thing into the console: python example.py -u USERNAME -p PASSWORD -l "xx.xxx yy.yyy" -st 10
ATTENTION:
USERNAME can be the one you chose for your account or pokemonscan
PASSWORD can be the one you chose for your account or 123456
xx.xxx and yy.yyy are coordinates (check the example below for getting coordinates)
Can i use my gmail credentials for step 15? or can i only enter them later on when scanning?

Q about which account you use to scan/get a Google API key:

Obviously I am not going to use my main Gmail that is tied to my PoGo account, but is it safe to use any of my other Gmails that are all linked in some way? Most of my accounts have each other linked as backup emails and I'm logged into my usual 3 or 4 on all my devices. If Niantic wants to go on a b& spree, is it likely they'll use their Google hooks to find associated accounts?

tl;dr Should I make an entirely new Google account just for this, or am I safe using one that is tied to the Google account my PoGo is on?
>>
>>27358667
Pogo isn't gloing to shut down any Google accounts, if that's what you're asking and as long as it isn't the same one you used specifically for your pogo account, you should be fine. BUT, I created a different one anyway since it only takes a minute
>>
>>27358706
Not the account so much as identify that Account A - Scanner is linked to Account B - PoGo player and ban me from PoGo.

I just made a new account, for some reason I thought Google demanded a telephone or backup email but it doesn't.
>>
>>27358895
>>27358706
Actually it's not letting my new account get Google API access, probably some kind of abuse protection, how long did you have to wait?
>>
