OFFICIAL OP FOR /pgs/ (other thread is dead / near bump limit)

DA RULES:
#1: Wait for scanners: we are not faster than light. Code will take some time to get Pokemons, then we have to screenshot the map and post it on 4chan. Please be patient. If you bump your request, scannerfriends reserve the right to ignore it.

#2: Post coordinates in this way:
xx.xxxxxx, yy.yyyyyy

Coordinates like "15W, 199N" do not help us.

#3: If there are more than two scanners, those scanners should begin posting with a name, in order to split the work.

#4: Consequentially, if there are more than two scanners, users shall post BOTH coordinates and the requested scanner.

Here is a Pastebin for dummies for scanning:
http://pastebin.com/SkL1LcbR
(Python runs natively on OS X and Linux, do not attempt to install it through Wine. Go here: https://www.python.org/downloads/ and download 2.7.12 for your OS.)

Once you get through that first Pastebin and get everything up and running, you might notice that if you leave the script running for about 30 minutes, new Pokemon will stop appearing on the map. Here is a workaround for this issue using PowerShell: http://pastebin.com/WE2c6518
That Pastebin also has instructions to run ngrok, which will allow you to view the scanner map on your phone while you're out catching Pokemon.

Happy hunting!

I lie, it does go down a bit. But usually only when the Go servers do, so it doesn't matter. Plus, it's a shit load easier than installing all this crap or waiting around hoping someone will scan for you. Someone that points out timers of pokemon that are common as mud.

No offense intended, scanbro. You've helped me out in the past, but pokevision has made you redundant. It was bound to happen pretty quickly after people figured out how to scan.
I'll still use these threads for mapping, but for immediate area catching, pokevision is the way to go.

Since it seems the scanning tools are written in Python, it should likely be possible to run them on Android using the Termux application. You'll just need to apt-get install python2.

Pokevision does have its glitches outside of Pokemon Go servers going down. They recently just did a server upgrade, and are still having a few glitches. But they generally work. The advantage is convenience (easy website interface) and not requiring you to create another Pokemon Trainer Club Account. The disadvantage is the aforementioned glitches.
>>
>>27322982
>Pokevision does have its glitches outside of Pokemon Go servers going down
Yeah they're still reliable enough that I planned a whole night of hunting with friends last night. It was risky but it paid off, the servers only went down for a minute or two the whole night, and that was only coz niantic was unstable for a bit.
Has anyone been using that scanner apk that was made a couple of days ago?

I don't post on /pol/ anymore at all, although I don't post on 8/pol/ much either, since it's now just a giant Trump circlejerk now that all of the Libertarians have left. I occasionally lurk /mlp/, but it's full of mostly shitposters, while /pone/ is mostly dead.

>>27323128

Pokevision is incredibly convenient. I just used it to catch a Clefairy, a Gastly, a Gloom, and 3 Nidorans (2 male, 1 female). This is going to make getting high level less common pokemon a lot easier. And if we start getting people bitching about this being cheating, it's entirely Niantic's fault for designing the API in such a way that the client is given exact coordinates.

Your choice between develop or master https://github.com/AHAAAAAAA/PokemonGo-Map
You can always grab the latest off the github, it gets updated like a few times every hour. Develop has new features sooner but might be more unstable.
I use -st 9 but the newer builds seem to be faster at scanning (at least one dev was saying that the switch from the old search to hexagonal pattern reduces the area overlap)
Main change is the notification tab. It brings up a desktop notif if it spots a pokemon.

>>
>>27324894
All of the variables aren't literal. For example:

python runserver.py -u scanpokemon -p 123456 -l"90.000 -90.000" -st 10"

You'll need to find your own coordinates, and if the generic scanpokemon username doesn't work you'll also need a PTC login.

I used to work at a factory but right now i'm between jobs mainly just looking for something to support a student part time. Canada isn't too weird from a UK standpoint, it's rather easy going over here, lots of UK citizens over here so everyone gets along with you for the most part.

Yeah.
The problem only affects Windows. In the screenshot you can see me scanning on Windows vs Debian. I let both scans run to 100% desu.

According to the dev discord, the problem is caused by the new default thread count of 5. This increases the speed of scanning exponentially and increases the CPU usage but unfortunately in Windows it causes a kind of bug/locking from what I'm reading.

You can set the thread count to 1 to reduce the issue until it can be fixed. Do this by adding
-t 1
To the end of your scan.

I've seen some fucking CRAZY screenshots today where one person ran a whole tonne of instances of the scanner on their computer because the new dev versions let you run multiple instance and wew they were scanning an entire country.

Latest builds have sound notifications and notifications for any spawns.
Typing locations in the 'Change your location' works. You just have to enable one of the google maps APIs (if in doubt enable them all) here: https://console.developers.google.com/apis/
And you no longer need to type co ordinates and things when using the map on your browser

Is this the ngrok thing or do we have an update on cmd-python scanning?
Or is it just a visual interface, much better for my eyes?
>>
>>27326578
Well iOS scanning, to put it crudely, is completely fucked.

Here are the open issues about it:
https://github.com/AHAAAAAAA/PokemonGo-Map/issues/1502
https://github.com/AHAAAAAAA/PokemonGo-Map/issues/1217

One of the guys I was chatting with couldn't even get ngrok to work (whilst I couldn't get it to work on my server...) but it works fine on the old master branch. However android apparently works just fine.

It's improved significantly! Faster scanning, notifications, multithreading, more things done in browser, more descriptive command line and less command line. More of a visual interface. Small fixes like prestige level display on gyms, autorefreshing and better autorefreshing by default.

They fixed the half an hour bug and there are a whole bunch of things that are being added right now including auto finding your current GPS position and notifications auto jumping to the pokemon you're interested in and removing pokemon you don't want.

You have to use the develop branch however. https://github.com/AHAAAAAAA/PokemonGo-Map
If anyone's looking for help with the develop branch, drop in for technical help at their discord. https://discord.gg/R2U2d
I have detailed all the command line changes in the new develop branches in previous posts though.

Sine causes:
- game stops updating radar and you see stale things

>>27339570
Hi, Clearly.

I tried to install the new version of Pokemap, you know.
Devs are fantastic, but their way of explaining is a giant mess: I had to loop around three pages in order to understand all the passages.

May I do the Scanguide2, Hexagonal Boogaloo?
>>
>>27339593
Dude, I have no idea how Python works. I can reconstruct it based on my general knowledge of programming but I'm still using the old version, by all means make it so I can learn how to use it as well, I guess you should make the next thread cause you'll have the links and stuff
>>
>>27339610
I installed the new version of it on my brother's PC.

Generally, the guide is kinda good, but in a passage there are seven or eight loops.

(I don't know nothing about programming, to be very honest. I am at the first year of Informatic University, but I have studied Latin and Ancient Greek for five years)

The problem is that, generally, tech-savy people think that all users know where to put their hands. And, of course, it is not: If I do a guide, I should understand that people WITHOUT that knowledge will try to use it.

That's why, I think, guides should be done by users, not by devs.
Explain the thing to an user, whoever he is: he obviously has to make things dumber, according to the creator, but easier to read.

Also, I think we are generally dying: this thread, pullulating with scanners and requests, now it is fading.
Either it is PGO or it is us.
>>
>>27339663
hey man, I don't want to have to do this, I just like providing the service

if Niantic enabled the API system I would be out tracking pokemon based on steps the way it was intended, but now people who aren't confident enough to install the scripts are fucked over, so I'd be glad to see this thread fade away and merge with the pgo general
>>
Is powershell faster than command prompt? Because the problem of cmd crashing is redundant now with the updates?

The hexagon is kinda inconvenient as it wastes time tracking areas that are kinda inconvenient to get to and if you put in 20 steps by the time it gets back around to an area the pokemon might only have like 5 minutes left which is impossible to get to.

Some very nice updates.
>>
>>27342355
your scans are a bit wide, anon, even if I had a bike I'm not sure if I could get to that scyther with enough time to comfortably catch it from his location
>>
>>27342402
You should imagine you are in a reality show race. And he might have a car for all we know. How many -st do you think are in a 10 minute walking distance? 5 to 6?
>>
>>27342421
>>27342402
Also the Scyther is probably 2 bus stops away.
>>
>>27342436
idk how dallas goes but in nyc that's like... 4-5 bus stops, easy

>>27342421
carfags can set up laptops in a car, even then they're better off being mobile catching mons instead of waiting for scannerfags
>>
>>27342478
Based on the map at home I can by walking normally get to the limit of -st 10 within 20 minutes, which means if you run or use something else you can possibly get on time. And just because he has a mobile phone and a car it doesn't mean he has a laptop or is intelligent enough to set it up, though there is the android scanner now too.
>>
>>27342355
Clefable 1110 ran away
>>
So i have a nearby Charmander, but when i GO to the scanner it doesn't appear. That already happened early with an eevee that finaly appeared 10 minutes later to show a "Expired" time left. Wtf happens?
>>
I would love another scan in dallas, but its cool if you can't
