Hello, /vp/ ! Today I want to make a new kind of run, to try and have a new way to experience the game.
I call it: Badge Reset Run (Provisional name, could also be Gym Reset Run, or team rotation run).
The rules consist of the following:
>If your party isn't full, you catch all wild pokemon you encounter through your way that AREN'T registered in your pokedex until you have 6 pokemon
>(you shall never catch the same pokemon twice)
>You don't get to pick them, if you encounter it, it's part of your party now, Once you have 6, you stop catching.
>That will be your team all the way until the next gym
>Once you beat a gym, you store/release all your pokemon (except one of your choice) and cannot be used again, basically resetting it
Then you continue your way to the next town, filling again your party with 5 new wild pokemon that you haven't used before in the run.
Is it fun ? I hope so, it's pretty much to exploit the idea of using a new team every gym (save the 1 pokemon you decided to keep from the last gym). Everytime you get a badge would be like starting from step 1.
I'm gonna try this with platinum to try and discover if it becomes too repetitive, or the HM give any big difficulties. Also, I want to discover which versions will this be do-able on (haha, Johto).
I just wanted to share it to see what you think and hear out any suggestions you might have, I think it has some potential.

It's called an N run anon. It's already been done?

They aren't quite the same thing but they're pretty similar.
N runs probably aren't that common anyways, especially when people need HMs and stuff.

True that. Ironically they work best in Unova

Wow, you're right, they're pretty similar. The main difference would be that my run choses the pokemon for you, and doesn't include a legendary. ( I was thinking on specifying that gift pokemon don't count ).
Maybe I'll leave it at that, or modify something, since it's 90% the same, I don't feel the need to share it as much anymore, but I never heard of it.
