I imagine there's an easy way to detect those that are playing with Bluestacks or Nox, so I'm sure those will be banned. I doubt rooted devices are marked for a ban, as well as those that have experienced being soft-banned. The spoofers that have just imitated walking and never warped will likely dodge the ban unless they have some damn good way of detecting the app activity. If that's the case, that sort of anti-cheat technology is probably where most of their effort was directed, and the entire game would make so much more sense.

What does that have to do with Niantic losing a chunk of its playerbase in a small period of time? Of course augmented reality is gonna a more focused on gimmick, Nintendo have tried it in the past and now they have success with it and will definitely do it again.
