>be playing this game
>Beginner: flawless
>Intermediate: Have problem telling apart once, get it right after a while of thinking
>Expert: get cucked by similar things like Machamp/Slowbro, Venonat/Jolteon, Aerodactyl/Vileplume, Rhyhorn/Charizard or Poliwag/Ditto
I thought I would ace it, but no. Expert level pulls no punches. This is my score after Round One of Expert.

>mfw i have to distinguish charizard's cry from ryhorns
OP here.
Expert mode done after seven tries.
Mew appeared after Mewtwo in the big ass list.
Only 150 mode left.
WISH ME LUCK, ANONS.
>>27325460
>150 mode is instant death
fuck, let's try this again
>>27325467
>mfw 150 mode ended up being easier than Expert and the only reason I lost on first try is because I misclicked
Kinda dissapointed.
>>27325413
>poliwag
>ditto
How is this possible
>>27325413
You can't because they reused cries. If you get it correct you got lucky.
>>27325619
Ditto is more "blobby" and less crying
The only impossible is Rhyhorn/Charizard.
>>27325631
Except I know the difference between a lot of the reused one.
It's probably the ONLY think I'm nostalgic for:
Old cries were better than the remixed one we have now. I'm so mad they changed them.
>having to distinguish Machop and Omanyte
Did the 1-150 Flawlessly.
The expert level tripped me up a few times though.
great translated names you got there
>>27325413
thanks only had to redo expert mode three times. 150 mode was the easiest but it was the most fun. rhyhorn and charizard still giving me trouble after all these years, the rest that sound similar have a different tempo and i can pick up on that at least.
>>27326051
Hi anon, I finally know how to discern charizard and rhyhorn: Charizard has a "Drum" noise going similar to Blastoise cry if you listen well.
holy shit are you faggots autistic
>>27327224
>memorizing the cries of 150 pokemon
>>27327250
>Memorizing
>Not remembering them by heart because you played all the games since RBY
PoGo casual leave.
Probably not, I never turn the sound on.
>>27327293
Don't pretend you remembered every one. Your autistic ass sat down and memorized them.
>>27327321
I can only tell about 70-80 of the original cries on the fly, and most of the rest are easy to guess going by exclusion since you ar given 3 possible choices except shit like Charizard-Rhyhorn and Poliwag-Ditto. Of course I can't exactly tell all of them apart with 100% accuracy you fucking cuck. Now do the world a favor and off yourself.
>>27327345
Have you been tested?
>>27325413
>OP is a fucking autist, wtf is this shit
>get 8 right in a row
fuck my life. why do i remember this

This

>>27325763
>Except I know the difference between a lot of the reused one.
You literally can't because they're the exact same cry. As in no differences at all.
It's only been recently that they changed it.
expert stumped me several times but i got the hang of it eventually.
got 150 mode done easy because they don't even try to be hard.
>>27325752
rhyhorn/charizard i think i've identified.
it seems the transition is sharper in rhyhorn's cry, whereas charizard's is smoother. if that means anything.
you can click the icons in the main menu and hear it for yourself.
>Caterpie and Goldeen
>Parasect and Mewtwo
>Chaarizard and Rhydon
>Diglett, Doduo and Dodrio
CATERPIE AND GOLDEEN ARE THE EXACT SAME CRY
>>27327530
>Caterpie and Goldeen
Goldeen's has an echo and is longer.
>Parasect and Mewtwo
Mewtwo is higher pitched.
>Diglett, Doduo and Dodrio
Different pitch
>Charizard and Rhydon
No excuse for these, they are the fucking same sound.
>>27327530
lmao caterpie is literally like 1 millisecond shorter. you'd need to be autistic to pick that up.
same with charizard/rhyhorn. there's a cheat to this one though. there's a tiny pop at the end of each cry. charizard's is louder.
parasect has a roll near the start, whereas mewtwo has a roll near the end. also mewtwo is higher pitched.
diglett is just lower pitched doduo. dodrio is much slower with embellishments.
charizard is

THATS HORSESHIT!!!!
>>27327775
That's actually Jolteon's name in Japanese
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SM0f3iV_r14
There's a clear difference between Charizard and Rhyhorn's cries. But nothing I can point my finger on. I did manage to discern them each time they came up, though. Still, even after seeing the difference, there's nothing objective that I can point to.
>>27328915
THUNDERS
Anyone who claims to hear a difference between Charizard and Rhyhorn's cry is fooling themselves. They are exactly the same in the data.
>>27328967
But it's actually spelled SANDAAS, which is the closest thing they can get to sound like Thunders. I'm just saying, I can see why they put Sanders
>>27329007
I saw it.
I don't take mp3 recordings as proof of difference when they're literally using the exact same bytes in-game, though.
>>27328982
Also related.
>>27329050
well then you're wrong because there is clearly a discernible difference. the software you're using isn't sensitive enough. i can definitely tell the difference between wigglytuff and poliwhirl. bulbapedia agrees:
Charizard's cry was very slightly higher-pitched and shorter than Rhyhorn's, by 0.006 of a second.
Caterpie's cry was slightly longer than Goldeen's, by 0.071 of a second.
Wigglytuff's cry was slightly lower-pitched and longer than Poliwhirl's, by 0.006 of a second.
Vileplume's cry was slightly higher-pitched and longer than Aerodactyl's, by 0.059 of a second.
Poliwag's cry was very slightly lower-pitched than Ditto's.
Machop's cry was slightly lower-pitched and shorter than Omanyte's, by 0.002 of a second.
