I expect them early/mid 2017... I have no facts to back this up, I just don't imagine they'll want to distract from gen 7, until it's been released for at least a few months.

If gen 2 is ever released on VC, it'll be for gen 8 or next gen 7 games, in a similar fashion we're having gen 1 on VC some months before SM.

Gen 3 is never happening because we got ORAS.

Or maybe we'll get gen 2 for the 25 years and gen 3 for the 30 years but hey, as if, 30 years will simply be gen 1 again on the next nintendo handheld.
