A lot of people don't understand the whole "No Gyms" concept. A lot of people argue "Why would they alter the formula in such a huge way, on the 20th anniversary no less?" and what they don't realize is that the way the leak presents it's information implies that the formula is not changed at all. It says "The goal is to build a League." and what that implies is that the Gym Leaders still exist, but the dialogue of the game's plot will imply that they're not actually Gym Leaders. Beating them in battle and offering them the job will act in the same fashion as beating them and earning the badge. It's just a unique take on the same formula, that's all. I don't see why people should be skeptical of the idea, honestly.

The owl is fine. The sea lion is also fine but not my thing.
The tiger though is an abomination, but at least gamefreak is giving me a good reason not to pick the fire starter.

Some excuse will be made for you to set off on a Journey with Hau to build a League in the Alola Region. Once that goal is accomplished, Hala and three other Trainers will appear, and you have to battle them. Once completed, you battle Hau in the end for the Champion Title (being another reference to Red/Green).

People just naturally assume the circus theme is there because fucking surprise, sea lions are usually used for entertainment shows and of course, circuses when we aren't even fucking sure what will come out for these. The rest, people just assumed Rowlett to be the ringmaster due to its bow and Litten to be the tiger that would jump through fire hoops because surprise, tigers who jump through fire loops exist in the damn circus. So far, it is the most plausible one, but not the most guaranteed.

The latter theme is JUST as stupid, because if that were true, Litten would actually be the one with the brains, because according to his description in the site, he's the one that thinks logically. And then this fucking wrestler came in and everyone goes "burr litten became brawn". And if Popplio were beauty, he would already be designed as such. He doesn't look like the epitome of elegance or beauty, does he? At least, I'd still argue Rowlett, but still.

If that theme were in any way real, Litten would have been implied to be the one who uses the most strength instead, but instead, the site makes it look like Popplio's the one who actually gets too carried away and the site even makes mention that it unleashes enough POWER in battle to make a spectacle. And with Rowlett, they make it sound like he's going to be this sneaky ass bastard ala Greninja, although we're obviously not sure.

This is a important point. If Rowlett were to be the smart one, they'd try to imply how "cunning" he is, how he uses his smarts to go through everything, what not.

Design aside, all the starters fakemon have a common flaw, that is every evo stage keep the same shade of color.
For example : Poppomaid 'nose has the same color of Poppolio, same with the frill and the dress.

The owl design is too busy in general. Of the three it's the least terrible but there's still too much shit going on and it's very hard to read exactly what it is.

The tiger design is something out of a terrible low budget 80s cartoon, a busy design with a big angry face and gigantic hands. The sort of thing that stops being cool even before a kid reaches their teen edgelord phase. Busy and clashing.

The mermaid design is just pure furbait with your typical obnoxious big eyes and curves. Frankly, it's just gross. Again, busy and clashing.

All of them are too exaggerated in general, a good artist doesn't need to just make specific features huge to cover a lack of overall balance.

Of course, with all designs, context matters. In context of pokemon, they suck because they barely reflect their starter forms or their potentials (actual pokemon designs like Oshawott have done this and been notoriously disliked as a result), they aren't taking advantage of 3D models, won't look good from all angles, don't translate well to a smaller sprite form that is occasionally required and their silhouettes are just messy from a distance.

They're also in general less interesting or unique, have no weird quirks (i.e. tongue scarf) making them poor marketing material.

When you compare them to the other fakes it's like night and day. The artist of rape clown and co could easily design pokemon, as they are clear, clean, slightly unusual designs with extra thematic depth to them, could easily be turned into toys etc. etc. (though his Owl final evo is pretty weak, in contrast to the other guy-)

Here's a little update I did using the different eye examples in the middle, wanted to make the most out of them. I already had done the face template before but only posted it once? It's nice to get a good look at how he works.

The eye examples work strangely well for the face template (I had already mentioned some time back it reminded me of Pokemon Amie), the third one is the one that looks questionably off, but that might be a mistake on my part.

There is definitely a few errs here and there, but I still love his design for whatever reason. Whether D.I is authentic or not, heck, he sure delivered some nice concepts in that one thread and Pinnister sure is a interesting design.
