I live in Kansas and in rural school districts there's either no sex ed at all or only "don't do it or god will cry" lessons.

Though even in the less rural areas sex ed quality varies by what teachers do it. One I had just tried to scare us with videos of STDs and I ended up looking up shit on my own after school.

After the first week of classes the local paper there polled the students on what they knew before these changed classes.

75% of girls believed a cold shower after sex could prevent a pregnancy.

Though after one year of these classes they saw a significant drop in teen pregnancies. Then in 2014 they had a huge spike in them again because schools are painfully underfunded there so sex ed got cut.
