there are two fire families in DP before you get the national dex, the Chimchar starter family, and Ponyta/Rapidash

yeah the DP dex and type distribution was fucked hard, which was one of platinums main fixes

Yep.

Even in Platinum it doesn't get much better since you get the likes of Flareon and Boober, but at least you had those options. In DP, it's Infernape or Rapidash.

Not even Sinnohfags can/will/do defend this.

If you put firered in the gameboy slot, you can catch growlithe in the first route. If you put in leafgreen, you can catch vulpix and magby early on. Why does nobody remember this?
