I'm browsing ebay and there are several sellers with lots of all 5 GBA Pokemon games, selling from China of course. Some I could spot right off the bat (the E wasn't bold enough) and some I had to look really close (the sticker was cut slightly smaller, cutting off a few bits of the lines on Fire Red) but some I can't tell. What do you think of this one? It's obviously fake but I must be too tired to tell.

Also, what's a reasonable price for Green version? My sense of prices is skewed since I usually buy them off my friends, but I don't know anyone irl with Green. I got Yellow and Crystal for $2.50 each and Blue for $15. What crazy prices, high or low, have you gotten games for?

I have every game from gen 3-6. I was missing Fire Red, Pearl, and Ruby. Got them from stores off Amazon for about $30 each. Not bad. For the GBA games, look at the top of the cartridge. It should read Game Boy in the correct font, not GAME, and it should not be blank.

Should I waste my time writing reviews on ebay lots that are positively fake?

>selling from China
This is your first clue. Also, don't buy anything that has images like yours and the ones in the link: low-quality shots of only the front. Look for sellers with high reputation (especially from a high-rated store), listings that say you get the exact thing you're seeing in the pictures, and, if you can, shots of the inside of the cart.

See the "2002 Nintendo" print near the pins? This thing is authentic, despite having no label. Fakes won't have that or will have a cheap knockoff.

Any researchfags know if this is fake or not?

Lots of fake shit on eBay. I have a small collection of hockey jerseys and there's a big market for Chinese knock offs there too. Don't even bother with reviews and don't buy something because it's cheap. Save up for the real thing.

>>27289137
China should be your first clue to a bootleg.

Thanks anon. My Emerald photo is bad but it's my storebought copy. I got a copy of Emerald that doesn't have the fancy fragmented shiny bits, just shiny like the rest of gen 3, and I wasn't sure if it was legit. Everything else on it looks pretty convincing, though.

Luckily I got most of my Pokemon games from reputable sources (New from Toys R Us, etc.) and all I need of the older games now is Green, which I am not entirely sure on spotting fakes aside from super obvious ones.

label color seems more saturated, but it could just be the light

don't have a bit to open it up?
>>
>>27290035
It's in an ebay lot. It's $12, free shipping from Japan. I just need a couple more games to have them all, and Green is last on my list of less-than-easy to find.

What about this one? Also about 12.

got a link? comparing it to my legit copy of Green and it looks good (saturation aside)

Here's one that I'm actually considering. US seller, has a sticker over the screw but supposedly that's cuz they replaced the battery and it's a warranty seal.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pokemon-Green-Japanese-Pocket-Monsters-Gameboy-NEW-BATTERY-USA-SELLER/181979652709?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D37184%26meid%3D37df6d27a4a84fb9b69be2a8e64e55d3%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D272249080626&rt=nc

Here's the previous one I posted.

And here's the first one.

first link is a bootleg, sticker isn't there for warranty purposes, it's there to hide the cheap bit they used instead of the one Nintendo uses

the second one and third are probably legit, stamping is off a bit on both but that's common. only way to really tell would be to remove the bit and see the board.
>>
>>27290378
Thanks for your informed observations. I wasn't sure about the first one. I'd heard that was a way to spot a bootleg but I wasn't sure if that was a thing people did to actual games. I've never bought a used game online before.
>>
>>27290503
there's one more thing, if you can get pictures of the bottom (where the pins and board are protruding), you can tell by the color of the board.

if it's a faded light green and the board is snug to the cartridge, it's legit
