Can someone explain to me what this Yokai Watch thing is all about, and more importantly why people here care so much about it?
I left this board for a few months to focus on work and I come back to see half the threads talking about it.

It's another Monster Collecting game that people thing is more popular in Japan than Pokemon but it really isn't.
The games are subpar but the anime is better than Pokemon's.

It's a very tangentially similar game about a young child recruiting monsters to fight for him with roughly the same target audience as Pokemon, if not slightly younger.
The designs are a lot cartoonier and based around creatures from Japanese mythology and they're often brought up in comparisons with new Pokémon designs.
Yokai Watch is currently a considerable success in Japan (being on their way to the third game and third spinoff already) but it likely will not catch on in America due to how strongly Japanese it is.

I assume you meant to create a new thread but no, the GTS will remain a dumb mess indefinitely. At least you can filter out legend tradesand mess with people who want 6iv /shinies by not giving it to them

Monster catching game, people began shilling it as the pokemon killer because it was popular in Japan, didn't do as good over here
Game is kinda fun but has a lot of problems, though supposedly these are fixed in the second game that will release in September IIRC

ANime (oryginal) is amazing and funny reminds me a lot of 1 season of Pokemon

I'm not a fan of the games but the TV show is loads of fun.
The monsters have a lot of personality and the focus on things other than battling allows for more variance in stories & adventures.
Even the English dub is worth watching. If you don't mind potty humor I recommend you give it a chance. You'll enjoy it at least more so than the Pokemon anime.
