Gen 1 was good. It had its problems here and there but it was good.

It was not however, the set guidelines of what a pokemon could and couldn't be and in should no way, restrain pokemon from trying new and interesting things.

Fearow is actually one of my favorite bird mons, even though it is basically a real life bird with anime eyes. But maybe thats what makes it so special. And had every gen kept with the very basic design, might of made Fearow feel less interesting.

There shouldnt be any reason you cant appreciate the old but enjoy the new, and the two shouldn't have to compete. Every pokemon has its fan group, and reaching out to help everyone find their perfect team is a great thing.

All gens are great and all gens have their ups and downs, but are all part of an amazing legacy.

Honestly, I think Gen 1 has the most bad designs, but nothing incredibly bad, which some of the other gens have. But the other gens have better designs, even if their shit is the stinkiest. And some of my favourite pokemon come from Gen 1, as I'm sure is the case with a lot of people. I just hate when people say "Oh new gens suck, look at Vanilluxe and Klefki what stupid designs", but they ignore that they also have some of the coolest designs, like Chandelure and Hawlucha.
