Weak to water, water is predominantly a special atk movepool and crustles sp def is low so i think i might stick with sturdy. sturdy gives it room to breathe for a shell smash (+ white herb) in case opponents atk is a 1HKO or two shell smashes depending on if i matchup strongly against opponent and then countering with that rock move that forces them to rest which allows me more room to atk again (or set a hazard), kill them and continue to sweep. is this smart or should i go about it another way?

Breeding is fun to a lot of people cause it adds a little role playing to the Pokemon games. It feels, fuckin' cool to breed pokemon! Having a cute little 5iv marrill poppin' out with 5iv's and egg moves is endearing as hell.

The 100 level limit is cool too since your story pokemon wont seem so useless. Plus getting to 100 takes some time! I think with the right set up breeding will be quicker still.

Who the fuck designed this? It's literally inviting cheating, because no normal person on earth has the time or investment to do this for dozens upon dozens of potential competitive Pokemon.

IVs account for 15 points in each stat at level 50. They might help decide some close calls, but you definitely don't need optimized IVs everywhere to have a shot at doing decently. A good nature is arguably more important in terms of pure stats, and then you get into movesets and EV distribution, which matter the most. You still technically don't need maxed IVs in the right places, but it can give a very small edge in some cases, but it's nothing insurmountable.

It didn't take me too long to get a few 6IV males in various egg groups to get my breeding started. I admit it is pure RNG, so nothing is guaranteed, but if you WT enough, you'll have what you need to get started. People on here are also usually fairly good about giving away 5IV breedjects to anyone who wants them.

Pokemon is an RPG, and inherently full of grinding, you can't really avoid it. If you want to battle without grinding, there's plenty of places like Showdown out there where you can do just that.

The inherent RNG in a battle is going o affect it much more. If you roll high on every damage roll, you'll more than make up for those realistic 7-8 stat points you're not getting due to imperfect IVs.
The grind and RNG are inherent to Pokemon, if you want to battle using perfect mons without having to grind, you can use Showdown for your battles, and play the main games for the fun and story, or just take a children's RPG less seriously. Because realistically, nobody on /wfg/ is going to end up in the higher tiers of major tournaments.

The system isn't exactly inherently broken, it encouraged a grind, like any RPG. It's pretty subjective as a whole, and saying that it is just shows your bias against it. The game is centered on a pseudo-random RNG, there's some parity to it, but luck happens.
