I don't know why so many people want an ice wolf.

Like wouldn't a typing that makes it so it can prey on ice types be better? They could still have it in an ice area and have it have nice lore.

That'd be sick. When Rockruff was first shown I was a bit put off by it not being a traditionally Rugged and Rocky looking pokemon but it has grown on me. I would love to see its evolution. It must evolve, for sure.

Has there been a pattern for Pokemon revealed in the past in correlation to type prominence?

Like, since Malamar and Pangoro were revealed early in X/Y, was it hinted that there were few Dark types?

Though I suppose Gen 6 may be a poor example, given the low selection it offered in terms of new Pokemon.

Well, supposedly there's a new snowman Pokemon. If so, that's at least one new Ice-type. Even if that rumor is false, Alola's highest mountain has a huge snowy area, so I would say it's guaranteed that there will be at LEAST one new Ice-type.

Dark-types fit in literally anywhere, so geography isn't any indication. Still, Kalos gave us at least one fully-evolved Pokemon of every type, so I would say that it is likely that we will get at LEAST one Dark-type.

We already have a ton of good, strong, viable Dark-types, so I'm not interested in them, myself. No, I'm more interested in Game Freak improving the weaker types, such as Ice, Rock, Electric and Poison... even Psychic.

both yungoos and rockruff will evolve into dark types, so that's two.

ice is never shown love so there will be line and it will be pure ice and won't be shown before release and you'll only get it after the 8th gym.
