Emerald wasn't chiptune though. All of the soundfonts were bitcrushed to shit because the GBA's soundcard sucks, but it's not really chiptune.

Anyway, I'd kind of agree with you that the general vibe of the music has changed, but at least Sun and Moon seems to have some good jams. A lot of what I've heard reminds me of Hoenn.
