I don't know, I feel like if Exeggcute were released for gen 7 people would be all over it because of the fact that it's a first-stage cluster Pokemon with multiple visible faces, which isn't too common.
Also, upon reading the Pokedex entries about the eggs/seeds swarming together in distress, caring for each other, and communicating telepathically, the design imo gains more depth. All-in-all I think something like >>27262877 is more of an example of bad gen 1 designs.
