Personally, I love them. It's like a super sayain mode for your pokemon. I also like how if you have multiple pokemon that can mega evolve, you can only choose one, which adds a lot of strategy to it, making you decide which mega evolved pokemon will benefit you most for that battle.

I wish it wasn't an objective powerboost but rather something that you should pull of mid battle. Like the power gain should be less but instead it regenerates you Pokemon or something. Or have it cure status. Something like that. At least some megas should do that. It would be so much more hype if you could go "BUT WAIT. I STILL HAVE A MEGA EVOLUTION!"
