I do feel like an MMO is on the horizon.
They've been missing opportunities for years, and I think they might finally be catching up.
They went to mobile with Pokemon Go.
They'll became competitive by introducing Hyper training and contests. These two things together, along with improvements from last gen, will make them the rightful masters of the competitive domain again, which honestly has been challenged by simulators.
Next up they need to build they're own mmo, which is another thing people want so much that they literally build them themselves.
That's what I think is next for the series.
