I barely think of middle stage evolution as actual Pokemon. There is just something so inherently temporary about them. Base stages are memorable because that's what you're originally getting. If it's starters, you literally choose them. Final stage is memorable because it's what you ultimately end up with. You'll spend most of your time there. But middle stages just come and go real quickly.

I tend to agree, unfortunately. This goes double if it's a cacoon style middle stage.

There are a couple exceptions like Dusclops, Duoblade and Boldore who can make good use of eviolite, but most of the time they are just the "work in progress" stage. Even if it's a design I like, it just feels like a waste to me.

I always really liked Haunter a lot.
When I was first exposed to the Gastly family, I was under the impression that all three were separate Pokemon, mainly because their designs were so wildly different. While I do like Gengar quite a bit with that menacing grin, Haunter always stood out the most to me with those floating hands and those jagged teeth. I also remember loving the one that showed up in the early portion of the anime.
