i don't get why people consider Magmar, Electabuzz and jynx a trio

things they have in common:

things electabuzz and magmar have in common, but jynx does not:

there's really no reason to consider them related when it is abundantly clear that gamefreak does not. There were people in my elementary school who considered Latios and latias to be related to lugia before more was known about them, but they at least share types with each other and are all feathered dragons
