IMO they should do away with the 30% chance of lowering defense and just make it a stronger physical move with a drawback like close combat and superpower.

Its on the same level as Earthquake power wise, but also has a chance to lower defense.
I would either make it 100% lower defence, but take it down to 75 power and buff accuracy to 85% or make it 100% accuracy, 90 power but no effect.
Gastro Acid is now an entry hazard.
Acid hits Steel types for super effective damage now and is buffed to 70 BP.
Give Power Gem +10 Power to bring it up to T-Bolt and the likes, or give it a secondary effect, like 30% chance to gain a stat/reduce an enemy stat.

Shadow Claw, Night Slash, Psyco Cut and especially Air Cutter should all be buffed to 90BP 100% Accuracy like Leaf Blade.

Metal Claw - has a 50% chance to raise Attack
Steel Wing - 50% chance to raise Defense

Normalize - give it the 30% power boost too
Toxic Boost - boosts Att by +2
Flare Boost - boosts SpAtt by +2
Pick Up - has a chance to take an item after a KO (i.e. you kill a Rotom-W, get its Leftovers)
Magician - now also deals 20% more damage from Special Attacks to enemies with status conditions
Flame Body - adds 10% burn on contact to all contact moves
Klutz - back to Gen IV mechanics
Big Pecks - adds +1 to all Defense boosts
Hyper Cutter - adds +1 to all Attack boosts
Illuminate - lowers foe's Accuracy by -1 when entering battle
Keen Eye - now also ignores Snow Cloak and Sand Veil (and any other similar abilities)
Heatproof - now also ignores boosts to Fire-type attacks from Sunny Day, Flash Fire, Fire Gem, etc.
Magma Armor - reduces Ice-type damage by 50%
Water Veil - now doubles SpDef in rain

That first option sounds like Crush Claw or Razor Shell. Might as well make it a variant at that point.
