Nope, it's because they are more unique. When you look at "cute" pokemon they all share the same fucking patterns: giant disproportionate head, small often beady eyes and small limbs, very little detail and they are formed by very simple forms, like their head and body are usually just circles. It's gotten to a point where every new "cute" pokemon is just boring now and they look like a rehash of 100 pokemon that came before it. Pokemon that look tough and/or edgy don't try to follow these patterns and because of that reason there is more creativity behind their designs.
