HGSS should be replaced with BW1. HGSS are, quite frankly, not good Pokemon games. HGSS Johto is an aesthetically nice region, but the level curve and Pokemon distribution are so awful, they are worse remake than ORAS. The level curve was fine for the games. It was lower than usual, but very tailored so that you will get to the E4 with a team that can beat them, but isn't too easy. The jump from that to post game was pretty big through.

And the distribution wasn't bad, it just encouraged alternate methods of getting Pokemon like using the Safari Zone or Headbutting.

Platinum and HG/SS are slow and have annoying parts while replaying

Black and white 2 felt like a chore to play. A lot of the new pokemon i liked, and yet i still felt something missing from the team i played. I barely even tried on the elite four. Very much this. DP were pretty shit, but Platinum fixed all the major problems that I can remember, and Sinnoh itself was a nice region. Also loved all the evolutions Pokemon got.
Crystal was my favorite game, so I loved HGSS having new evos and PS split.
Haven't finished BW2, though I did enjoy BW1.

I personally liked XY and ORAS, but I'm not sure I can say they were better for play through.
ORAS was fun, but the first 3-4 gyms were still slow as shit and didn't have that many interesting Pokemon, and while the delta episode was fun, it was a bit convoluted and silly.

Side note: honestly, I still can't comprehend why this board gets any traffic when everyone hates the games they are playing since 3-4 gens ago.
