It's not really a trick. Just save up until you have a bunch of Pokemon to evolve at once, and use the egg before evolving them. You get 500 per evolution and another 500 if it's a new Pokemon, so doubled its 1,000 or 2,000 per evolution.

Exactly. I waited until I had about 10 evolutions ready to go, then spent the rest of the time at a lure module for double capture points. Moved up from Level 11 to 14 I think.

You want to get one that has a CP meter all the way over, and then evolve it. The meter stays proportionate when they evolve.

The issue is, as you level, the max CP you can have raises, so an all the way over ~500CP mon ends up only half way over.

Much like the main games, your "badges" (in this case, levels) determines if you can control strong Pokemon.

As your trainers level increases by gaining XP, the CP cap of your Pokemon does as well. Starting out, a Pokemon with 100 CP might have a full (capped) bar, but eventually, the cap will increase, and 1000 CP Pokemon will be your new max. The actual individual cap on a Pokemon varies from species to species, though; a weedle won't have the same potential as an alakazam.

The best method of getting strong Pokemon teams is, imo, to catch Pokemon that are already nearly full. When a Pokemon evolves, the CP bar stays proportionate: it's just as full, but evolved Pokemon have a higher CP cap, which means a significant jump in numbers. Conserving stardust is extremely important. That's why it's best to catch nearly full Pokemon to power up instead of raising them from scratch. Wild Pokemon with higher CP start appearing as early as level 5. Try to aim for around the 200-500 mark for long term mons. 100 is okay starting out. The most important thing, overall, is how full the meter is.

I caught this wild Charizard with 393 CP just now and am at Trainer Level 8 currently.

Well I think I've hit the wall of interest on this game. I had a lot of fun at first, but now that it takes so much more XP to reach a new trainer level and get the item bonuses from it, I've run out of healing items and balls and don't have a reliable source of pokestop resupplies without making a regular driving route that takes me literally all over town.

I still want to finish out my pokedex, but it's going to be going at a much slower pace now.

I have a question that's not related to Pokemon Go but I don't want to make my own thread and this seems to be the only active thread that's not dedicated to bitching about stuff.

I want to make a pokemon that can hit anything with false swipe but while trying to do so I've noticed that it doesn't seem like a single damn thing can learn false swipe as well as odor sleuth or foresight. So far the only thing I've come across that'd work would be a Pangoro with the hidden ability scrappy, but it anyone else has another idea I'd like to hear it.

Instinct managed to take the gym closest to me in pic related, but I took it back in less than a minute. Valor will sometimes manage to hold onto a gym for an hour, but never more.

90% of the gyms are constantly blue.

Got a 240 CP Clefable at like 2/5 CP and a 360 Drowzee near max. Are these worth investing in? Clefable has Moonblast and Zen Headbutt, Drowzee has Confustion and Psybeam.
