Today we will be discussing out Kalos early birds: Fletchling Flechinder and Talonflame.
Fletchling is super cute and probably one of my favourite basic stage birds not much else to say about it.
Fletchinder has amazing design and turned the tables by becoming a fire/flying type thus becoming the first of the first route birds to a have a different typing (wingull doesn't count).
And last but certainly not least we have Talonflame the bravest bird of them all having sub par stats apart from speed and was though to become Nu garbage became one of the most annoying OU threats thanks to its amazing ability. Not much else to say it has a good design and I like it, maybe it has too many spots but that doesn't really bother me anymore and thankfully GF was sane enough not to give it additional coverage in ORAS with stuff like Superpower or Seed bomb.
All in all its great to see early route mons becoming useful in competitive and hopefully it will remain up there but at the same time we need more ways to counter it so its not on every single OU team.
What are your thoughts?

Talonflame is my favourite gen 6 mon. It was a good gen for flying types, at least.

The prime example of how an ability can change an otherwise sub par Pokemon into a great option for online battles. Great design for an early bird, as well as it gave us something fresh with it becoming Fire/Flying instead of staying Normal/Flying. Hopefully Pikipek follows suit and becomes a great mon as well.

it would have been interesting to see how it faired without gale wings. say if they didn't release it until later like tyrantrum's ha.
defensive sets probably wouldn't be used, but it still would have 126 speed and swords dance/bulk up, wisp, roost, flare blitz, brave bird, natural gift, acrobatics, taunt etc which are pretty damn good options still. fire/flying also isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

No its OK. But the lack of priority would have still hurt it. Yes it has excellent speed and a decent move set but having average around 80 and a x4 weakness to stealth rocks it wouldn't have gone too far maybe RU at best

It's me again! OK here's my analysis:
Gale Wings turned what would be a PU Mon in one if not the best priority users giving it priority on Brave Bird, Roost, Tailwind, and other Flying-type users. Although it is a good ability, it is often questionated if it was a good idea to giving it to it when it's already fast (indeed the fastest Gen VI mon).
Having Fire as STAB is very useful because it prevents being walled by Steel-types, but it also give it a crippling Rock weakness (luckily the only 100% accurate Rock-type moves are seldom used)
