A lot of the things that make the game enjoyable to me didn't exist in gen 1. Breeding, abilities, doubles and the special split. Each of these things really add up over time.

The only thing I like about generation one is the behavior for hyper beam where if you get a kill with it, the Pokémon doesn't need to rest the next turn.
