No new megas in SM?

I wanna see new Megas so I'm hoping that there will still be some, but Mega Evolutions are tied to the new Synchro mechanic in some way and since they're still keeping the latter under wraps, they aren't showing new Megas yet.
But it's more likely that Megas are just done now and GF is switching over completely to their new gimmick.

In the past five or so months we've known about the game, we have not ONCE seen anything about a new evil team. If chasing down the island guardians is the new plot hook, then I'm fine

Jesus, that might be the worst fake mega I've ever seen. Almost as bad as some of the real megas.

My wife's son told me that they will only add 10 new mega evolutions in S/M.
