Yeah. I just spent 4 hours outside, with water bottles and shit. I was really excited and I actually had a blast when I didn't find a common pokemon for the millionth time.

But when I got home after being tired, sweaty, and not much reward for my efforts I started to think about if what I did was a waste of time. Sure I went outside but REALLY how much did I actually spend not looking at my phone and trying to get in touch with nature?

In the end you catch the same pokemon, so there's no real connection to what you run into, you grind to level up and evolve, and sometimes it just feels cheep when you walk around aimlessly just to have the rare nearby pokemon vanish from the nearby list.

I want to try again but I'm afraid I'm wasting my time. Which is a shame because it was something that made me go outside and distract me from working out and it has a lot of potential.

Evolutions seem to scale with the previous evolution's CP. My Pidgey with 58 Cp evolved into something with like 138, way higher than anything else I've caught at the time.

You can also just "camp" for pokemon, moving slighlty ever so often. I caught 5-10 pokes last night just from cooking, which meant leaving the app open and in my pocket while I moved around the kitchen. I ignored several alerts though, could have caught more.

Yeah, I'm frequently a passenger for my job (road assistance mechanic), and I managed to catch 3-4 Pokemon through steady driving, and hit a number of hotspots. Battling Pokemon while moving is perfectly fine, the only thing that matters is initiating the battle before you get out of range. Considering you'll be driving with the express purpose of catching, you can drive as slow as you want.

Was working 2 days ago, just before the "official" US launch. Caught 5 pokemon, leveled up nearly to 3, even visited one of the many pokestops in my city
