Discounting anime, definitely Carnivine

Carnivine had some interesting traits at least. It oddly had levitate, probably to teach you that ingrain negates levitate. It had a signature move in power whip. It was one of the only worthwhile pokemon to find in that marsh.

Maractus is another grass type.

shallow movepools are the greatest cancer of pokemon
so many pokemon that could have been good but aren't just because they have no coverage or flat out useful moves

As much as I love Maractus, it's more forgettable simply because Carnivine had a role in the anime.

At first i was furious they went for goofy on a venus flytrap design, but then it grew on me

Carnivine will forever be more memorable to me, solely based on the fact that when I was 10 I made a fakemon that looked pretty much exactly like it, called Carnivire. 2 years later Gen IV came out and you can imagine how I reacted.

Maractus is more forgettable but its design is more appealing. Carnivine's goofiness makes it more memorable, plus when I think of cactus Pokemon I think of Cacnea's line.
