Emboar is by far my favorite fire type starter. Its a shame it had to come after two other fire fighters, I love how bulky the bastard is compared to those lankier mons.

I know Feraligatr isn't that popular, but I think he's great. He looks like how I think starters should evolve into - an agile beast with teeth and attitude. Typhlosion fits that mould too. Gen 2 had a great line… until fucking dopey-faced Meganium.

The first time I played Johto was HGSS and I don't like Typh very much. Feraligatr is pretty cool, Meganium is just bland but Typh manages to be even blander. I think Charizard is overrated but I still like it more than Typh.

Back when HGSS actually came out though I remember watching youtubers who were super nostalgic for Typhlosion and only Typhlosion. Just goes to show that even then Poketubers were still trash.

The problem is that people hate it as a Dewott evolution similar to Dragonair --> Dragonite. Even though its Dewott that deserves the hate more for not being good middle bridge of the evolution line. Its a shame too, as Samurott is literally a shell armored warrior but suffers from drastically transitioning from Dewott's generic as fuck design.

People were hyped about Chesnaught and people even loved Quilladin because of its name.
Delphox was also liked for the most part.
Greninja is a different case, it was 50/50, but it's mainly because there was still shitposting about it being leaked, so I wouldn't count that really. So yeah, overall the starters were all liked.

even though this ability alone makes it OU in competitive but also makes it a one trick pony for only having 1 move to work with its ability, you can only get that ability in postgame/event. and like I said before, only in a regular playthrogh.
its movepool is only grass and normal outside of TMs, there are no moves to counter its weaknesses, without any status buffs its attack is low enough to hardly O-K most pokemon, while having good speed and defenses it doesn't have any other outstanding moves to support the party or more-so on the compare meganium even.

the thing serperior really need is, well, anything. it felt like a blank cover that needs something to make it stand out more. either give it new moves outside of grass, secondary type, or give it more status moves to go with.
