Fifth of gen also had rare Pokemon in the form of rustling grass, including fully evolved psuedos, some evolutions, and even trade/item evolutions. I wouldn't mind that feature coming back

The problem is GF made retardedly high poly count models, probably because they were using the 3DS Pokedex program as a basis (though it never did get a Gen VI update, did it?). The other problem is they insist upon trying to mimic the arc directly while having pretty low-tier textures. The 3DS isn't going to be spitting out the best things, but it could probably due better with a bit more focus on meshing the design aesthetic with system.

These combine to result in models that have huge amounts of polygons, upping the rendering load, that don't really benefit on 3DS screen and shitty textures that make the models looks like they're less than they are. So the framerate ends up tanking, despite it not "looking like" it should really be doing so poorly.

I don't get the complaints. It's a fucking turn based RPG, it's not like framerate matters. There is no real time action.

I'd rather have high poly models that do the Pokémon justice than lower quality ones just so they can have more framss per second or whatever.

It's a problem when the framerate dips low enough for you to notice the change. Yes, you may not need it to be super high because of the mechanics, but if it isn't consistent or too slow, it looks bad.

And again, the super high poly count does little on the 3DS. They could simplify the models a bit and still have it look mostly the same. I'm not sure how much, though, and am not sure how much it would really help.

I wouldn't necessarily say that Growlithe and Electabuzz are confirmed to be in the Alola Dex. They're just being used as staple promotional material like all the pseudo dragons.
