Tbh I like the dog and the bird, I do tend to like the common animal based designs but I like the weird ones we've gotten so far too.

I think almost all of this gen looks great so far, shame about Pooplio though.

The worst cancer of the Pokémon community are the "intellectual" reviews that are literally "i don't understand this design, so is a bad design" and/or "this design is ugly, so is a bad design".

Pokémon fans paying for a game that they don't understand. GameFreak has designed its Pokémon based in specific origins, knowing that these origins can give ugly designs. For example Garbodor, Weezing and Muk are ugly because are criticism of environmental pollution. Or Pokémon like Claydol or Probopass, that are weird designs because are based on weird artifacts. They think that GameFreak should design adorable or badass designs whatever the origin. But, they continue to design ugly Pokémon after 20 years of the franchise.

Then, who is wrong? Is Game Freak for making ugly designs from the beginning? Or is the fan who pays for them?

Tapu Koko has been the most accepted legendary I've ever seen on this board. Drampa was also well liked, it's just people spamming their "XD DANK MEMES" that made it seem otherwise. Bruxish is a nice concept overall, not too keen on the design but it isn't a fucking abomination as you imply people are saying.

The biggest cancer is by far people who have been disengaged with the franchise for over 15 years yet whenever a new game comes around they suddenly feel obligated to voice their uneducated opinions everywhere.

Personally I don't find Bruxish especially creative or different. In fact besides the personality it exudes it's pretty much just a triggerfish and an angler.

Tapu Koko is very different and doesn't seem to be getting a lot of hate.

It's not Pokemon fans in a nutshell, it's /vp/ in a nutshell. Over half the board has to be contrarian, and there are also a handful of anons that seem to hate everything gen Vl and on.
The only ones I don't love are the pikaclone, never been a fan of them, and lipfish. Although while I think the fish is ugly, I don't think it's a bad design, it's just ugly. But not all Pokemon have to look 'cool' or cute, some can look ugly an it still be a decent to good design.
