Is togedemaru actually a porcupine?

Porcupines aren't known to be spherical at any stage either.

Besides, a tail placed on their back isn't every good indicator of what species it is, cause I don't know of any animal with a tail on it's back.

It's a hedgehog with a long tail. All the Pikaclones have long tails.

Well other than the tail, i think it looks a lot more like a hedgehog than a porcupine
It wouldn't be much of a stretch to just add a tail to make it cuter, even if the original animal doesn't have one
