>different japanese and western names
This hasn't been the case since Gen 5. Could it be that he's not actually a legendary, but just really strong and revered like Volcarona?God, I hope so. My autism prevents me from using legendaries.
What's different from his western name and japanese?

one is in western and one is in japanese

Kapu Kokeko

He's called Kapu Kokeko in the japanese version.

>post yfw the translator wanted to name it Top Kek

Source? We don't know his official romaji name so it will be probably Tapu Koko like in the western.

No it's not confirmed.

It was in the japanese trailer. When it goes to Tapu Koko it shows his japanese name, and when transliterated, it's Kapu Kokeko.

You all know what we're going to collectively name it.

Into the trash...

You can't translate the japanese name to get the correct romaji name. This is not how it works.
>>26924453
You are retarded and know nothing about Japanese.
>>26924453
Is... This a joke? I think I get what you mean but this is dealing with completely different sounds and pronunciations. It's not like Lunala versus lunaala. Katakana is the easiest Japanese to romanize.

With your stupid logic Victini's japanese romaji name is Bikutini.
>>26924481
official romaji names > fan translations names
>>26924568
I knew it. I KNRE that was the angle you're going for. Biku and Vic are spelled the same in Japanese kapu and Tapu are not. They're spelled totally different.
>>26924568
...dude, it's how it's represented in the game.
That Victini point: in japanese, that's the closest way they can represent it without latin characters. Bikutini is literally Victini. There is no difference there.

>hasn't been the case since Gen 5
You realize that's because the non-Box, non-event Legendaries frequently don't share names between the west and Japan, right? The Legendary Birds, Lake Trio, Musketeers and Genies (those these less so) all didn't share names, while the "main" Legendaries and Events always have. They've outright stated they focus on making "universal" names for those, so they can be the same across languages.
Gen 6 just didn't have any legendaries that weren't the main ones or events.

THE
TRAILER
No one's said this so far I think but the names have a meaning. "Tapu Kokeko" most likely comes from "tap" (as in "bottle tap") and kokekokko (Japanese for cock a doodle doo) while "Tapu Koko" just comes from "top cock". Totem incoming.

The autism and ignorance on display here is hilarious.
Just stop talking, please, for your own benefit.
There is absolutely no way to "romanize" Kapu Kokeko into Tapu Koko.
