This is the Water/Steel type effectiveness list
Too bad it was given to an average pokemon
Psychic/Steel is a pretty good defensive typing too
Pretty sure Fairy Steel is the best
Electric steel is the best. Provee wrongu
>>26880091
x4 weakness against Earthquake which everyone and its sister can use is a no deal. good thing it does not exist.
steel + anything is generally pretty good
>>26880941
>magnezone doesn't exist
>>26879993
It use to be before gen 6. It's weak to dark, ghost, fire, and ground now.
>>26879984
Empoleon needs Competitive instead of Defiant, the SubPetya set just doesn't work nearly as well as it did 10 years ago.
>>26879984
Empoleon would be OU if it had Roost though(or any kind of reliable recovery). It has potential and is in no way "average".
>>26880963
Steel and rock?
Bug and steel
Poison and Dark
Water and Dragon
>>26880963
Steel/Ice says hi
>>26881022
Here's Steel/Ice's type effectiveness
>>26881004
Actually I checked smogon the other day and it could be used in OU with a Defog set.
http://www.smogon.com/dex/xy/pokemon/empoleon/ou/
>>26881022
In fairness, everything with ice is shite
>>26881041
Like I said, it has "potential". Lack of reliable recovery is one of it's main problems to be top tier.
>>26880964
oh, boy, totally forgot those, my bad
>>26881004
You're right Anon, Empoleon is in no way "average".
It is so far below average in its design that it is the absolute worst water starter of all time.
Such a waste of a good typing.
>>26881147
Depends on the pekemon. An Ice/Rock type with sweeper stats would be GOAT. To bad Gamefreak didn't deliver.
>>26881350
you mean giving decent stats to aurorus ? I'm all for it, this fucker rocks, it just needs more att.spe and the access to power gem.
Despite the 4x weakness I think Scizor has the best defensive typing out of every Pokemon.
>>26881429
Bronzong disagrees.
>>26881429
when fairy was added, someone did the maths and steel / fairy was designated as the best defensive type and ice / rock the worst.
on the other hand, I'm never totally secure when my scizor is out given its sp.def and hp. there is also Forretress but it's worst sp.def and hp wise.
on another hand, mawile is weak against ground which is fuckin common.
now, I have to think about what I will do with this extra hand.
>>26881344
Why are this fucking butthurt? Go take a wee wee and have mummy change your diaper.
>>26881678
Not very butthurt at all actually. This is the first time in years I've even thought of poor old Empoleon. In time we will get the water/steel mon we deserve and EMpoleon will be lost forever.
>>26881344
Thats a weird way to spell emboar
>>26881821
>worst starter pokemon because I personally don't think about it often
>sees more play in competitive pokemon games than Non-Mega Blastoise, Typhlosion, Non-mega Charizard, Emboar, Delphox, Samurott, Non-Mega Venusaur, Meganium, Non-mega Sceptile, and Torterra
>Sees as much play as Mega-Blastoise, Feraligatr, Infernape, Both versions of Swampert, Mega-Sceptile, and Chesnaught
Jesus christ you're retarded.
>>26879984
I'll just leave it here
>>26879984
>average
UU is exactly where i want it to be
>>26880964
>he fell for the magnezone meme
>>26880063
>>26881533
I was assembling a mono steel team for a byron cosplay I have coming up, amd when it comes to covering weaknesses, I kept coming back to a strong case for klefki. Skarmory also seemed pretty appealing, bit I feel like fire is actually pretty saturated and his weakness list is impressive to me because I never use it.
Since we're talking about defensive typings, even if one isn't objectively best, which is best for a mono steel team?
>>26879984
I would say Grass/Steel is best. It resists Water and Electric which are 2 common neutral hits that are very dangerous for steel types.
>>26879984
Empoleon's one of the best Defog users in the game, even with its lame speed stat. Resists sly stones, gets a Defiant boost off of Sticky Web, and is immune to Toxic Spikes. It's up there with Claydol in terms of underrated hazard removers, I reckon.
>>26882490
>Comment on it's shitty design as a water starter
>Get reply defending it's competitive usablitiy
Learn to read, anon, that's all I can tell (you).
>>26879984
Empoleon is okay though.
>bring up against special sweeper
>add assault vest
>>26882607
>weak to fighting
>double weak to fucking fire
yeah, no.
>>26881440
If steel kept it's resistances I would wholeheartedly agree
>oh is bronzong, let me switch to a fire type because it probably has levitate
>>26880091
>>26880941
I think levitate should be something along the line of contact so Pokémon like magnetron cam actually be great and can have a good ability too. Basically if it's floating like magneton it shouldn't have an ability slot taken up. But Gengar should have its ability slot used up by levitate
>>26880063
Dragon Steel would arguably be better.
>>26882689
> levitate should not be an ability
> but gengar's levitation should
yeah, sure, double standards... it's not like there were abilities explicitly meant to nerf the pokemon like truant, defaitist or slow start.
>>26881031
>Weak to the most common physical types
>Weak to one of the strongest special types
>GF would probably try to make it a wall
>>26882689
Gengar shouldn't be penalized, but, yeah, Levitate should be an individual true / false. Flying types should also lose ground immunity and almost all be ticked true barring a couple of obvious examples. I love 'em, but doduo and dodrio should be susceptible to EQ.
>>26882677
well, in the case of ferrothorn, the fighting weakness can be an advantage since it usually hold a rocky helmet. on the other hand, special / non contact attacks are to avoid.
this fucker can really piss your opponent. I have toxik, leech seed, gyroball and roots on it, it's fun to use. (never tried against humans though and, yeah, don't use against special / non contact attackers)
