Why, because of an article that claimed "what is the eu" searches increased in Europe after the decision? Yeah, that wasn't exaggerated at all, and Google totally isn't pushing their own agenda..
>>
>>26872661
Oh, it definitely works. People are certainly free to make stupid decisions utilizing the democratic process, as Brexit has proven. Now that it's happened, Britain is left in the position of either scrambling to find a way to somehow make this work, or effectively dooming themselves to global political/economic irrelevance by isolating themselves from the majority of the world.

In 25 years modern medicine is going to largely collapse as anti-biotics become completely ineffective, basic procedures such as C-Sections will be impossible making childbirth more potentially deadly again and basic illnessess will become much deadlier. Failure to move away from fossil fuels quickly enough is also going to completely fuck us over leaving many peoples homes without power. Not that it matters because the economy is so fucked that most people growing up at the moment will never be able to own homes in the first place, both because the economic madness at that point will make it basically impossible to ever get on the housing ladder but also people won't have the money the pay their rent because there will be less than half as many jobs than there are now because the push to rise the current shitty minimum wage will accelerate the adopting of automated workforces as it will be cheaper than paying humans.

I could go on but basically anyone below the age of 25 is basically completely fucked and it's optimistic to think that by 2066 we won't be in an absolute hellish dystopia with half of the first world falling into Mad Max territory.

>In 25 years modern medicine is going to largely collapse as antibiotics become completely ineffective.

I don't think you understand how antibiotic resistance works. Nor do I think you fully comprehend the implications of antibiotic resistance spreading. The problem isn't resistance, it's morons who take antibiotics for everything that causes older antibiotics to become worthless. We have many, many antibiotics that are still incredibly effective for diseases. Furthermore, with the exception of MRSA, your other antibiotic-resistant bugs aren't going to be hitting the average joe with a normal immune system. The people who get these strains without a doubt are immunocompromised or old as fuck, and most of them are acquired in the hospital itself. Fucking VRE is a UTI and the only way that it can spread throughout the populace is if you drink some 75 year old womans urine when she's in a hospital or if you have such shitty hygiene that you neglect to use gloves or follow basic isolation garbing protocols, get her urine on your hands, which is almost impossible considering she's likely got a Foley bag, and then dont wash your hands when leaving the room (which is a joint commission violation by the way), and then put your hands in your mouth.

MRSA is a bitch but you literally hit it with a barrage of at least vanco, linezolid, and bactrim which will fuck up your most severe infections.

Literally we'll be fine so long as we keep using broad-spectrum antibiotics in combination (that's the important part, to kill any cross-overs) and keep developing new antibiotics while practicing safe prescribing-habits.

99 times out of 100 you don't need fucking azithromycin or augmentin for your bronchitis. It's not strep-throat, it's a fucking virus. You dont use antibiotics for viruses.

Honestly, as a citizen of a EU country I only see Brexit as a win-win option for every party involved.

If Britain falls into crisis as the result of Brexit and EU survives then it'd mean the project has a future after all. The UK would probably be let back in if they wanted to but this time without all the special snowflake opt-outs and rebates.

If Britain comes out stronger without the EU the whole thing will have to be either rebuild from the ground up or ditched altogether. Either way we will end up with a better solution.

The next few years are going to be interesting for sure.

Of course they have, and that goes back to the overprescription of antibiotics. Which is the major change that is required. I've studied this shit and keep up with it, I know your point. Of course ABR is something to be concerned about, it has the POTENTIAL to set us back medically by a whole century. But that's the thing, it's potential. And frankly, this is something that we will always have to deal with unless nanotechnology eventually replaces antibiotics all together. So long as bacteria and fungi adhere to the model of Darwinian fitness and continue to adapt to their surroundings, there will always be ABR. It is up to us as a scientific community to continue to adapt with them. The antibiotics of 2041 will be greatly different than the antibiotics of 2016.

Come get me when we start seeing resistance to tygacil, dapto, and linezolid and I'll start to panic.

And your point about strep throat, so much can cause a sore throat. You could have post-nasal drip causing it from your sinus infection. It could be strep. It could be viral. It could because of some irritant you consumed. It could be sore due to coughing or dry air or irritants that you inhaled.

But people are idiots and think that a z-pack cures all of that.

But the funding and development of new antibiotics isn't meeting expected targets, resistance is rising faster than anticipated and despite constant awareness campaigning about the dangers of over-prescribing doctors haven't stopped doing it and the agriculture industry in the US is buying more than ever against the instruction of the FDA and health experts. This all comes as UK Govt report on the subject has stated that by 2050 we will be seeing a hundred tillion dollars worth of damage to the global economy and tens of millions of deaths a year.

No more organ transplants. No more c-sections. Tuberculosis becoming incurable. This has become a certainty in the next 35 years unless there is radical overnight change.

>muh degree
Having a degree doesn't somehow make you smarter than someone who doesn't. You've stored information that will be useful for a specific job, that's all.

Why not take a Z-pack just to be sure? Lets cover all bases here.

I think its dry air cause I had a little bleeding in my nostrils. Dried blood, that is.
>>
>>26875039
Chosing to not have a shit boring/underpaid job makes you instantly smarter than any non-degree shitter.

They voted remain because they're afraid of the unknown, because the media told them to be afraid of the unknown. That and because apparently if you voted leave you're a racist bigot, and honestly who wants to be a racist bigot?

>Choosing
Your elders didn't have a choice fuckface. My mother had the grades to go to college but couldn't because her family didn't have the money. College used to be something that only the richest could afford.

What is the UK going to be exporting? If Scotland leaves you bet your ass they're gonna be taking that oil with them.

I've actually done presentations on abx use in agriculture. It's thought to stimulate growth but ironically, in a study looking at abr in pigs treated with abx that also studied growth rates, the study not only proved that abx use in farm animals increases abr, but it also had no effect on growth rates.

Personally, I think those who develop antibiotics need to start looking at microbiology with more biology in it instead of just approaching things from a chemistry and pure treatment point of view.

Maybe you're taking too strong a dose of your anti-allergy medication. Maybe slip down to a lower dose of your allegra.

>mfw I entered the workforce right after GCSEs and have a bunch of industry qualifications and many years of experience in a well paid job while my friend that went to Uni and jerked off in his dorm room to get a worthless degree could barely find a job and now works at a shit dead end job that he hates because people his age with four times as much actual work experience are around.

Honestly unless it's a mandatory qualification in a highly technical subject a degree is a complete waste of time and money. Want to be aerospace engineer? Go get a degree. But for the vast majority of jobs it's fucking worthless and it just means that people that went into apprenticeships or directly into work have a big headstart on you.

Im not taking any allergy meds; but its been hot here and had the A/C all night every night. I'm assuming the humidity has left my home, making my throat irritated.

Scotland is sitting on some oil right now though, correct?
>>

So then go get a humidifier.

On the off chance you aren't fucking around, signs and symptoms, med list, and past medical history please.

Americans being shitty farmers and making up for doing a shit job by filling their animals with antibiotics has been basically the biggest roadblock in the transatlantic trade talks.

Europe is normally on top of their shit, but they crap the bed hard with GMOs.

There are days where I feel like humanity shouldn't have gotten as far as it has, but we've somehow managed to fuck up into the right places.

Yeah, most of our oil comes from Scotland. We are supposed to subsidise the extraction of it but we've massively neglected our responsibility and the EU basic kept Scottish oil going. Brexit is pretty scary for the Scots in part because of that.

I've been fine; been outside a lil enjoying the weather up until a few days ago. Thursday I'd say I went on full notice, began experiencing throat pain. No fever or vomit though, so I'm assuming reaction from the A/C being on all the time. Havent had it on since last year desu.

>Implying the Dutch are giving a fuck about that EU rule since the EU has totally ignored their last two referendums on other EU issues

Alright, the EU has now the choice of listening to us and our concerns, or they can risk having one of it's biggest contributing countries, along with the biggest harbor in Europe, get up and leave just like the Brits did. It's their call. We are sick of paying the most for the EU's crap per household while not getting taken seriously by them.

Colleges nowadays are mostly expensive day care centers and thanks to the general public becoming aware of safe space faggotry and students skipping classes constantly to protest stupid bullshit colleges are increasingly becoming a laughingstock
