>Remora into Octopus
>Piranha into Shark
>Oyster into Gulper Eel/Pipefish

How do you explain these evolutions? Nearly every other pokemon sticks to the same animal/species within it's evolutions, but these few (and possibly others) don't.

Why?

>yfw we'll never get a true piranha evolution line because of this

>Piranha into Shark
They're both marine creatures best known for violently eating shit. Not the most logical jump, but not really a stretch either.

Remoraid -> Octiller is a handgun to an artillery piece. The animals don't matter as much.

Clamperl is odd, until you realize: the little pink pearl is the actual Pokemon, and it's actually a fish egg. It sheds the shell when it evolves. It's like Shelmet's armor or, actually, all of Exeggcute.

Carvanha and Sharpedo is pretty stupid though, yeah.
>tfw when we'll never get proper piranhas OR sharks
I feel you, bro.

I still have hope for another shark line. There are so many different species they can pull inspiration from. Hammerhead, Whale Shark, Sawtooth etc.

I always thought the pink part evolved into Gorebyss and the blue part evolved into Huntail. But now that you mention it, it does sort of look like a little egg nestled in an anemone

This.
The Clampearl line is fucking weird, true; but its forgettable and fringe. Remoraid into Octillery is fucking stupid. Motiff blah blah blah. The colors, species, and designs of the two are completely unrelated. You couldn't find two Pokemon of the same type that look so different. Imagine if Kabuto evolved into Ludicolo - they're that fucking disparate.

>Piranha
>marine

I agree with your point, but piranhas are not marine animals.

It only evolves into one thing.
