It's perfectly possible to get a Softboiled Magic Guard Clef, you just need FRLG, an original DS, a gen 4 and 5 game, and the relocator. Good luck getting one with anything close to decent IVs as well. You also have to get an ability capsule to change the ability over once you get it to 6th gen, so good luck getting anyone to give you one.

Hey guys. I'm starting to get into breeding, and a lot of people say I should use a shiny ditto with perfect IVs and the nature I want to pass on.

How am I supposed to get such a special ditto without cheating?

I don't like to cheat.

Almost impossible. You can however, if you have the patience breed up a set of parents for each egg group. That way you won't need a ditto. It takes a bit of work but it pays off.

Does Destiny Knot transfer the IVs from the Pokemon holding it, or both Pokemon in the Daycare?

You have a total of 6 slots (Hp/attack/etc) in two parents (so 12 total)

Destiny knot will import 5 out of 6 randomly from either parents. It's a coin flip for each stat.


You want to use a 6iv ditto otherwise you will be bicycling forever.

the absolute best scenario you can get is both parents to be 5iv and you have a 1/6 chance of getting another 5iv offspring.

Destiny knot only carries 5. You can't get one that carries 6. The other parent HAS to hold the leftovers or you now have an additional 1/16 chance of getting the correct nature if you don't.

If you want a 6iv offspring, the BEST you can do is use two 6iv parents and then you have a 1/32 chance of a 6iv offspring.


Everything else gets worse from there.
With your scenario:

Remember, each stat is a coin flip 50/50.

HP AT DEF = .5*.5*.5 = .125

SPA SPD SPE (wildcard!) = .5*.5*(1/32) = 0.0078125

0.0078125*.125 = 0.09765625% or 1 in 1024 of a 6iv offspring
oh....did you want to choose the ability as well? For non-HA, it's 80% of the time the same as the mother, for HA, it's 60%
